If we're going to lose good players (Clarke, long, hill) then I certainly hope we are pushing for Bing at all costs.

That dream is over, at least in the short term. Including the retirees and the players who may leave we should have a massive cap space to fill though.

A little article in the Age today suggesting Clark won't be with us next year. North and Essendon sniffing.

Norths compo reportedly 2nd and 3rd in 2023 draft, that have to be used to trade in players. Hill probably gets traded for the 2nd round pick (2022 or 2023), but it will make the idea of moving Clark for a top 10 pick more complex.

Stavro on BF has suggested there are other clubs interested in Clark with GWS being one.

Why is it north get priority picks to help them fast track up ladder
Maybe my memory is not good but st.kilda didn’t get priority picks when we needed them to help us.
We were down for 2 years I would have thought that would have qualified.

I don't mind this if it doesn't screw another big trade we may be thinking of in the next two years. We would have the cap space to pay his contract, and would get Cam Mackenzie at 7 and another at 9 perhaps.

Clark to North for future 2nd.
Our future 2nd and Long to GCS for Bowes and 7.
Pick 9, Hill (+$450k) and Bytel for Horne-Francis
Draft in Mackenzie and hope Lewis Hayes is at our pick 27.
I'd chase Harry Boyd from Norwood and Ethan Phillips from Port Melbourne as mature age rookies/draftees.

Why give up pick 9 as well as Hill and Bytel? That's 3 players + 450k for 1. I'd be keeping pick 9

Geelong have delisted 5 players Quinton Narkle being one. Another who interests is Paul Tsapatolis 202cm ruckman who I saw play against Max Heath in their under age years. I thought Tsapatolis looked quite good and am surprised Geelong have delisted him.

they must have realised that once he was too old for U18's he was a spud. If so, next.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Sadly, I feel like this will be a very uninspiring trade period for St Kilda.
Hopefully something can come from left field but I just don't see it at the moment.

Gallagher has said today the objective is to recruit a tall defender and a tall forward to take the pressure off the undersized Wilkie and Membrey

And to do so without compromising our Draft position

This is absolutely consistent with my thoughts - acknowledging that we have Heath and Adams developing - those players of the demographic Gallagher speaks to

By extension, the pressure will not only come off the undersized Wilkie and Membrey but also off Howard and King

The other observation is that Sharman and Highmore are on our List - but, you could assume they are not of the size Gallagher identifies as being sought

Which is the fact - Highmore and Sharman are like for like with Wilkie and Membrey

We get Hayes back - but he is a very good SANFL player finally getting an AFL opportunity so how that turns out will be interesting (noting a promising start interrupted by season ending injury)

So it is watch this space

If Gallagher can deliver we will be a much improved side structurally and in regard personnel given the likes of Wilkie and Membrey slipping down the order from key position players to support players

And we have salary cap space due to what was held in reserve for De Goey not now allocated

The Club is in good and stable hands

I now here that Essendon are going to offer Melbourne a 4th rounder next year for Weideman I thought we were into him why didn't we off our pick 46 and a pick in the 60s for him I thought we were targeting KPP I don't think there is much out there unless they are offering Hartigan a contract I really hope not.

There is talk on Big Footy of a rumour.
Clark & pick 9
For
Pick 3.
North’s board is in meltdown over it.
Thoughts?
Would we take it?
