Let’s call it for what it is. Yet again, we’ve failed to nab a superstar recruit and we’re trying to pretend that we’re not pissed off.

Despite all the bollocks talk of us being a destination club (continually flogged by our now ex-CEO who is canonised by many for keeping us irrelevant for a decade), we keep putting our hit in the ring for superstars (controversial or not) and we keep getting told thanks but no thanks.

We can say “it’s for the best” all we want. Really, it’s deflection from the disappointment as to why no one of star merit wants to play for us.

He was ok with playing for us. Just stayed in his comfort zone . Will regret it, but still be rich.
If he was really anti us would not have balked at behaviour clause and caused Pies to compromise. We were
the safe harbour. There was no dismissing the offer out of hand, serious talks. We are pretty attractive club to play for. We are selective.

I never really even thought about DeGoey playing for us, we were always a back-up plan, or worse still a leverage tool for his manager to use.
