I think this is a perfect snapshot of how far Australia as a whole needs to improve on its treatment of Indigenous people. I wouldn't be surprised that if all clubs scratched beneath the surface more stories like these would rear its extremely ugly head. Once again footy clubs/footy culture - never politically/socially progressive (despite the Ronald McDonald House-bannerism of the AFL) will be held up for target practice..and people can shoot away their own guilt and shame. So the boss told them to terminate pregnancies and move on…choose between professional life and having a family at an early age…like fathers and even bosses have told sons, employees for thousands of years, and in many parts of the world still do. It is sad, perhaps they asked for advice, perhaps they were ordered …sad and sadder.

But race is involved, and guilt and legacy and media so the Hawks will go down. I don’t know the details…but you don’t have to see which way the clouds will blow..

Great. Another post speculating on what happened and how it happened and what the outcomes should be and how does society treat these individuals whether they are indigenous or not…. and are the AFL and the clubs any different to other corporations, should corporations change their behaviour when we all know that they don’t care about individuals….

Taking all the emotion out of this, let's concentrate on the facts here.

Facts are, a very well reputed Journalist has not been backward in naming names here.
My history in Media tells me that this article would have been picked apart by the ABC Lawyers before it was published.
Lawyers would have been very careful about throwing names out there unless they have proof this happened. Otherwise it would have been "Senior Hawthorn Officials" etc instead we get things like "Clarkson said".
Now I don't for a second pretend to know what this evidence or proof is, but believe me there is zero chance that this would have been allowed to be printed unless there was some.

That s*** is almost 'cult like'! They are allegations but what individual/s think they have the right to treat players akin to the 'stolen generation'. Where they believe they own them and acting in the best interest of the club not the individuals. I cant believe it is just an indigenous issue - other players would have been treated similiarly. However there cant be excuses made even if the coaches thought they were acting in the best interest of the player, it is disgusting.

If the investigation finds the parties to be culpable, they all should be de-registered by the AFL immediately!
