BM you know the history behind all those players leaving and they have nothing to do with the current administration and are all very different to the Clark situation.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 19 Sep 2022 8:19pm Either McCartin, Stanley or Hickey will be premiership players

North have just been given a future 2nd and 3rd round selection to be used for trades this year.
I wonder if we are looking at
Clark, Hill and Pick 10
For
Pick 1 this year, future 2nd and future 3rd

Re: Hunter Clark
Where would Acres play in our current side? All of McKenzie, Billings, Wood & NWM would be ahead of him. If Hill stays he should take another wing. Its the exact reason Fremantle are happy for him to leave.
Long is moving for financial security as will 15-25 other players this year. Good luck to him.
Hill is a club 'culture killer' and its best for our club that he leaves.
Clark is 'potential only' and is a smart move by the club to trade him while he has capital. If it doesnt eventuate he gets the kick up the arse he needs to go to the next level.
As long as the club gets decent picks for them, for different reasons Im more than happy to see all 3 leave!

Rate this trade, although id be happy with just a future 3rd rounder, think we would be asking to much of north to get both 2nd and 3rd.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 20 Sep 2022 8:47am North have just been given a future 2nd and 3rd round selection to be used for trades this year.

It basically rates hill as a 3rd rounder, Clark as a second rounder and pick 10 as the same value pick 1!

Re: Hunter Clark
Why would we want to do it?
The player we get might be as good as Clark in a couple of years but might also be a bust.
We need to keep our good players and build on it with free agents and draft.

Yes, the people wanting him traded for a draft pick don't understand the irony in their wish.longtimesaint wrote: ↑Tue 20 Sep 2022 3:56pm Why would we want to do it?

Especially following the draft/trade points system was introduced people have really disconnected from the actual purpose of the trade.
The point is that you’re generally meant to be better off than if you hadn’t done the trade. That can take a couple of different forms (player performance, salary cap release, getting rid of a negative personality etc).
Obviously when trading with picks, one also accepts the unpredictable/gamble aspect of the trade.
So to look at it specific to Clark
You have a guy that many think is extremely talented but has stagnated.
Primary reason for stagnation is injury…
Question marks added more recently regarding his drive
Regardless… fact is that he has demonstrated a very high ceiling that could see him be an A-Grader but he hasn’t produced this with any consistency past one good year.
He’s also a player that could address list deficiencies.
So you want to take that… and trade it for a future second round pick.
Say North improve… other stuff happens… say pick 20+
And with that, you hope to get a player that has a reduced % of bring better than him, a moderate % for being about as good and a high % for being not nearly as good.
Doesn’t make sense to me

Re: Hunter Clark
Remove the 2nd pick though. Do you think clark plus 10 and maybe a pick shuffle later on could nab us 1?….probably not but one can only dream. Agree hill is virtually worthless in this transaction - we will also need to pick a portion of his contract which is fine.amusingname wrote: ↑Tue 20 Sep 2022 3:12pmDefinitely asking way, way too much!stkfc1 wrote: ↑Tue 20 Sep 2022 1:47pmI'd take this trade in a heartbeat. Re: Hunter Clark
I reckon go for the lot
Clark is a former pick 7
Hill considered an elite player
Pick 10
Surely worthy of Pick 1, 20 (ish) and 38(ish)

I have no idea where that pick might be, but knowing our club, would we stuff it up?
we've had more value out of SANFL- Wilkie, maybe Sharman, hopefully Jack Hayes...

Another Fremantle player has requested a trade to North.
Question is, how can North secure all these players, they have very little to trade.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

We have a terrible record at trading but this could represent a new low.
