Apart from the number one pick, they have nothing worthwhile to offer - not sure how any of these get done

Re: Hunter Clark
Why would he want to go to North though?
I get Long because he’s not established in the top 22 and has a clear better offer on the table. Clark though… even with the buzz of Clarko, at least for now we’re a much more attractive proposition in terms of finals.
Norths been a battle zone down low for ages

Re: Hunter Clark
Point is you trade Clark
Bring in a draft pick
What’s to say on this clubs development record you don’t just end up trading that pick in 5 years time cause they don’t come on???
Buying high selling low dumb drafting
Clark was pick 7 ffs
Now we’ll get a second rounder and another club will polish his development up and make him a player??
WTF is going on down there?

Why should they? The guy has a contract. The innuendo on this place is worse than than the Woman's Weekly. Maybe the people behind the club are smarter than what you think. If there are speculations about players being traded in the newspapers and on the AFL site, would come out and make a statement. Usually along the lines of " he is a contracted player and a required player"
But they have said nothing, which indicates there is a fair bit of truth in it.
Not sure you need to be a scholar to figure that out.
But as for the club being smarter than what I think....I sincerelyhope they are, because the track record isn't impressive really.

Re: Hunter Clark
All speculation at this point based on very little. Ben long not in our starting 22 and could go elsewhere and play more games so not a surprise but hunter is top 22 and plays if fit/uninjured.
Also north Melbourne want everyone but have little to offer. They have pick one sure but that’s it. So they split that for two first round picks and then maybe one again but they have been linked to how many players? Can’t see hunter going, they would have more luck getting coffield

Re: Hunter Clark
What "good" players have we traded out recently?
By all reports on this site, the three that are playing on Saturday were no good.
- McCartin was a overweight diabetic that shouldn't have been taken with pick 1. He was done when he finished with us. Concussions took the best of him away from us and we delisted him.
- Stanley was the classic built like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Very few were unhappy to see him moved on.
- Hickey was no good and went to the Eagles who also happily moved him on.

Re: Hunter Clark
I agree LLS, we have hardly let anyone of high quality go. Times have changed every club move players on and off lists each year, its just the current climate and a way to manage team lists and caps. Even the sucessful clubs have lost players, thats how they get back into drafts and maintain cap balance.
McCartin was a terrible choice as No 1 and IMO with his concussion issues he shouldnt even be playing. Watch the recent Mario Fenech articles (past NRL player) on the affects of CTE on brain injuiries. He is just 60yo and already has dementia and a brain that of an 80 yo. I have no doubt McCartin will suffer later in life.
Hickey wouldn't be playing if Naismith was fit or if Ladhams had a brain.
Every year Geelong go looking for another ruckman but Stanley seems to hang on by a thread.
Clark has had a couple of very good games, apart from that he has proven to be injury prone and not up to stepping into the midfield. We can only carry so many back flankers on our list, so it makes sense to cash in while he still holds some worthy draft capital. If it fires him up and he goes on to be a star then good luck to him and the club he goes to, thats the calculated risk.

His ball use is something that is in short supply at the club.
One of our best ball users couldn't get on the park until late in the season and polled 3 votes in the last game.
Billings and Hill are also good users but Hill needs space.
NWM is also a quality user. Some of his passes were sublime this season.
These are the sort of players we can't let go but need better "bull" type mids to allow them to utlise their strengths. Clearly Windhager will be one of those and Crouch is also good at that.

Re: Hunter Clark
Yeah, first reports of Long going he was linked to NM wanting him & Hill then later it comes out he requests trade to GC.
I reckon managers and clubs are testing waters and someone leaks it out.
I'd hate to see it end up a mess the way the rugby league do it.

Re: Hunter Clark
Either McCartin, Stanley or Hickey will be premiership players
McEvoy was a premiership player
Ball was a premiership player
Goddard a captain and B&F
Dal Santo excellent at North
Hall a premiership player
Smith an AA at Hawthorn
Everitt an AA and B&F at Hawthorn
Lappin nearly 150 games at Carlton
Need I go on?!

No doubt
Our team of cast offs would absolutely belt the team of players we picked up as a result
Plugger would headline the cast of stars we gave up

A draw or 1 point does it really matter ? It is what it is still no premiership & in regard to Stanley maybe but I think he will play
