St KIlda the sleeping giant
In my area there have been plenty of Footy colours days at local schools, primary and secondary of late -
Let me just say - huge numbers of young kids in st kilda colours - HUGE
hardly ANY in Geelong colours.
Lots in Collingwood
Quite a few in Essendon colours
We are a sleeping giant.

I'm inner North, too. If you go to the sports store they basically only stock Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton, and Essendon jumpers.
I see the odd St Kilda car sticker here and there, though. We Saints are a rare breed here

The giant is more a large clumsy ape and we have been put into an induced coma.

Re: St KIlda the sleeping giant
There was a plague of Melbourne scarves, beanies and caps in my area. I’ve lived here for 9 years and I didn’t see one for the first 8.
For some reason, they have disappeared again.

Re: St KIlda the sleeping giant
Let's be clear about this.
St Kilda is not a sleeping giant.
Far from it.
We're a very unsuccessful football club and have been for some considerable time.
I'm sure your intentions were good but it is still way off the mark.

Re: St KIlda the sleeping giant
Hawks and Melbourne almost merged, and Richmond had to rattle the tins back in the 90s.
South Melbourne and Fitzroy didn't survive.
I know plenty of St Kilda supporters - can't say the same for a lot of the other teams though.

Re: St KIlda the sleeping giant
The Saints were 3rd for members (only 184 members from 2nd) in Victoria in 2006:
38,038 - Collingwood
32,511 - Essendon
32,327 - St Kilda
Absolutely butchered that generation of growth possibilities.

Interesting. GT was sacked at the end of the season, Mrs Trev refused to renew our memberships for 2007 and blued big time when I paid up for 2008. Seems he wasn't alone in taking a while to warm to Rossy.
