They need cap space for Jackson
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

IMO had a pretty good game tonight & has been consistent all year . I was disappointed when we moved him on & pretty much for nothing but we are St.Kilda & 1 flag in over a hundred years of our club's existence say's a lot .

Carlton are getting a ripping deal, one million for 3 years. Wasn't that pretty much the deal we gave Kent to secure him from Melbourne?

Re: Acres would look good in a saints jumper
He always threatened to be a really good player for us, but obviously wasn’t rated highly internally by the club.
I’d suggest the same has happened at Fremantle, hence them lowballing him.
Any case, I’m fed up with St Kilda moving on players who go on to good things at other clubs. One became captain of Hawthorn and played in a premiership side. Another captained Essendon.
I really don’t want to see Hunter Clark or Jade Gresham coming back to haunt us. You hang on to good players.

Saintspremiers is taking the piss
What is this point of this thread?
Lethlean and co. happily got rid of him (wasted the asset we already had at the club) and got reamed by Freo in the Hill trade

They did. They should have had the balls to call their bluff and kibosh the deal and walk away.
They could have ended up with Cerong.
Hopeless.

I think the knock on Blake is that he kicks long high bombs from mid or defense but cannot kick efficiently into f50.
Shane Savage?
So Carlton replace Newnes with him?

You can't have everything. He's tall, strong, uses his body effectively to tackle, bump and contest the footy, and take a high mark....shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sun 11 Sep 2022 4:54am I think the knock on Blake is that he kicks long high bombs from mid or defense but cannot kick efficiently into f50.

I was watching some tv show the other day and they said Freo didn’t expect to seriously for a couple of years and didn’t think he was part of it so are moving on

Had more pressure acts in the first quarter than Hill has had in his whole time at st Kilda!
Biggest trading blunder since Barrett/Stewart.

Re: Acres would look good in a saints jumper
Was he not very inconsistent with good performances and injury prone with us?
Longmuir gets more out of him than Richo, but Richo wasn't much.
He's gone, history, so what.
Paddy is the big one that got away story and to a lesser extent T. Hickey. But again shows what a top class coach can do with a player.

Re: Acres would look good in a saints jumper
What did those coaches do differently
Hickey - played in the ruck and had good games at StK
Has MATURED into a good player who is now at his peak
Acres - played Wing/Forward and had good games at StK
Has MATURED into a good player who is now at his peak
McCartin was injured

heard a few freo supporters bemoaning his forward fifty delivery - i told them they could thank his formative years at the saints for that.

At least his high bombs have some distance about them.

Re: Acres would look good in a saints jumper
What game were they watching? Better efficiency than Brayshaw, Serong and Aish. Outstanding game, they needed more like Acres last night. Ran hard, helped out in defence, linked up well through the middle. Put his body on the line. Freo had some problems last night, Acres was not one of them.desertsaint wrote: ↑Sun 11 Sep 2022 11:44am heard a few freo supporters bemoaning his forward fifty delivery - i told them they could thank his formative years at the saints for that.

27 touches and 0 hitouts… who knew he would thrive not having to ruck! (Not Richo)
Who’s had a better 3 years, Acres or Hill?

Didn’t notice him do anything to change his side’s position in the game.
Hill at least opens up the game

Re: Acres would look good in a saints jumper
There they go again...venting about Hill, in a discussion about (fill in the blank) ...
Fair dinkum, Hill has made St Kilda a better side for three years,..not a worse side...
As in ‘better’ not ‘worse’.
900k better ? Of course not...but it doesn’t matter.
Blake Acres has got the best name I have ever seen/heard. He should be in Hollywood with a name like that. A farm boy who goes to LA or NY and gets recruited by the CIA and Mafia, becomes a commercial pilot and bangs someone important. Or a cartoon series, Clutch Cargo meets Blake Acres.
I know it hurts, but we have to be less emotional or more ruthless.
Look at DeGoey.. Absolutely Dustinesque, monstering these finals!
