He hasn't got to our club yet, but with the right development program he should be cherry ripe for finals with Sandy in about 2 to 3 years, could even play a few games of AFL with a bit of luck

Have every faith in current Saints recruitment team.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 1:38pmYes. Why can't they recruit decent players? Why hacks?
It says a lot about our recruitment and the people running the show. How does Geelong keep thriving and St Kilda keep slipping into the depths of despair?
It's definitely not the coach. It reeks of a deep fundamental flaw in the structure of the club. It hasn't been right since Lyon took off. They let him walk. Again the club was at fault, I have no doubt.
Working under the radar which annoys the media so they fish with made up rumours.
We will do ok. Even on the Hill trade, unless Brad realises that he is not going to do better than the Saints and changes his mind.

Similar rationale as the recruitment of Frawley and McKernon.older saint wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 2:07pm Hartigan is being looked at as a delisted free agent back up only for our big defenders. Joyce clearly not up to it and if things go well he doesn't play - Wilkie, Howard Battle stay fit. Also allows younger options (such as Adams) time to develop for another 12 months.
Reality may be better than pick 96 or whatever at a cheap price.
Just because those selections didn't pan out as well as some may have hoped for doesn't make the thinking behind it wrong.
Backups are required for a balanced list.

Re: Kyle Hartigan
I'd rather a younger defender. As someone said, even Clav but I don't see the value in recruiting a player such as Hartigan at his age.
I've seen the Saints do infinitely more stupid things to make me question my membership. Recruiting Hartigan would not make the Top 50.

Re: Kyle Hartigan
He can play forward and ruck and he is unsigned so would be cheap and that's what we like cheap cheap!
Are we going to make a play for Bing next year when he is out of contract would make sense now his mate at the suns Rankin has broken the packet the players had not to leave.

He is no good.
Hartigan played in a GF team 5 years ago and can play. He is being overlooked because Hawthorn are miles off and have young defenders they payed heaps for.

Re: Kyle Hartigan
Was seen as a stopgap Frawley replacement by Hawthorn fans, and serviceable. He is not a competitor for Highmore, Lienert, Sharman, Battle or Webster. He would be squarely used as a replacement for our somewhat unpredictable Dougal Howard. A clear admission of the apparent fact Jarrah didn’t come good (or good enough) , or that we made a mistake letting him go.

We've been there with James Frawley, McKernan.older saint wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 2:07pm Hartigan is being looked at as a delisted free agent back up only for our big defenders. Re: Kyle Hartigan
Obviously we have to wait until the end of the trade period to learn who we've recruited but if Kyle Hartigan is a sign of what's to come then it's a sign the club is seriously over rating our list.

I was all for picking up Hartigan many years ago when he was young, unsigned and killing it in the state leagues. At 30 years old? Nah

Re: Kyle Hartigan
Exactly, why the f*** does this club wait for them to turn 30 and on the scrap heap before they recruit them. Why didn't they take the ex Feo fullback that went to the Suns, when they had a chance?mad saint guy wrote: ↑Thu 08 Sep 2022 12:11am I was all for picking up Hartigan many years ago when he was young, unsigned and killing it in the state leagues. Re: Kyle Hartigan
Well, if he costs next to Nada ...we should have a look on a one year performance. Can always use an experienced back. But if it's a detriment to our draft / rookie goals no. But if we have a spot going ...we should try either a big risk big reward or a total newbie

If this is true It is so St Kilda it is beyond a joke.
FFS, waste another pick & time on another McKernan.

Sadly it is so true. We jettisoned Clavarino and kept Joyce. Hartigan would be the exclamation mark on our recruiting, development and thinking.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Sat 10 Sep 2022 1:05pm If this is true It is so St Kilda it is beyond a joke.

Hard to know when it’s only stats and fantasy points, but statistically he was superior to Hartigan’s Box Hill form.
I’m a no on both thank you.

Re: Kyle Hartigan
The response to this is incredible. We're obviously recruiting him for depth as BACKUP big defender, which we need. He is very likely an upgrade on Joyce, but just depth.

Re: Kyle Hartigan
That is wrong! St Kilda supposedly are recruiting him because the people doing the recruiting have failed at their jobs. If they were any good they would have recruited a decent defensive player by now.The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Mon 12 Sep 2022 2:00pm The response to this is incredible.
