Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
I don't mind the St Kilda games - only because I Believe - but in general not so much
I am a Feral Supporter for the AFL - I am a fan of AFLW Saints - it falls similar to Sandringham in my world
Nothing against the girls - but in a full game - the chance of a scoreline of 12 - 8 does not necessarily excite.

I'm getting more enjoyment in watching the girls this year than I did watching the guys. Sorry Ratts.
Loved seeing them touch up the Hawks today.

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
Another excellent win. 9.9 to 1.4. Yes they were playing a first year team, and will face tougher opponents in coming weeks, but Dal has them playing a polished brand of footy. They are happy to switch into the corridor, and have the skills to pull it off.
Our key forwards Greiser and Shierlaw kicked 3.0 to 2.2 respectively, and both goaled from strong grabs. McKinnon has dominated in the ruck both weeks, Patrikios is pure silk , and Jakobsson and Priest lead a strong defence . Most significantly , they tackle ferociously .
Alice Burke is starting to look the goods down back .
A pleasure to watch.
Our second best player, Tyana Smith, is still 4-6 weeks away in her return from ACL. She would be a handy addition to the midfield .
The real downside of AFLW is the injury attrition. Looks like an ACL for Van Dyk - our second already this season, and looks like the Hawks may have at least one.

This St.Kilda AFLW team gives me hope that I
might actually witness a Saints premiership one day. And Nick Dal Santo will probably turn out to be a far better coach than Ratten.

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
So now Dal is a good coach
Last year he was s***
Make up your minds?!
Truth is
Probably somewhere in the middle, and more to the point, does it make any difference?!
Bring in a good ruckman, get your best player back, play some minnows
All of a sudden it’s happy days
Just 3 games ago they were the worst team in the comp coached by a novice!

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
I'm pretty sure the coach has helped ..can take a while for the coach to get their act together no doubt with more experience . They were crap last year and they are better this year there is no doubt about it. Teams improve especially with some talent coming in .B.M wrote: ↑Fri 09 Sep 2022 12:26am So now Dal is a good coach

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
I don't follow the women's comp closely but I had heard that this year with all 18 teams, and just 10 home and away rounds, they've arranged for the weaker teams from last year ( which we fell into that category) to play each other at least once and the top teams playing against most of the top teams, to make it fairer for some of the weaker teams to qualify for finals

The Dees might be a bit better than the previous teams!

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?
Yep
But the match also highlights why they are a typical st kilda team and should be embraced (metaphorically) by all our supporters .
Start the season well , 2 wins away , generate some hype, first home game , playing a good team . Hopefully a good crowd . And then ......
Come out and play absolutely schissenhousen .
6 goal to nil first term (afl equivalent would be 10+ )
Well done
The boys would be proud.

And had an obvious chest mark taken away. How all the umpires missed that... maybe too shy to speak up.
