In the final VFL game of the season, as 1 of 6 AFL Listed players in the side which beat Williamstown, Allison had 18 disposal,, took 4 marks and kicked 1.2

The kid, coming from the background he has come from, is 20 years of age, 195cm and 79kg.

So give him time.

Sadly, our core group should be headed by Billings who, for one reason or another, disappoints every season, and Ross, Steele, Marshall and Membrey, who are all good but not good enough. These are our senior players and unfortunately they're just not good enough to build a dominant team around. These are the guys crouch, hill and co were brought in to round out - but it doesn't work that way. You can't graft class on from the outside - it's got to be built on something that's already there.

Our second tier are more exciting - and imo the real untouchables - Sinclair, McKenzie, Clark, Coffield, Wilkie and King.

Then coming through, windhager, Owens, Hayes, and wanganeen milera

Battle, webster and long I like and regard as handy. They're scrappers - I wouldn't want to lose them.

Of the rest I either haven't seen them at all and can't comment or have seen too much and would prefer not to. One or two - Higgins, Byrnes, gresh, sharman I favour but in my heart I know there's no real justification.

Sad truth is, there really aren't many players you'd say we can't afford to lose - who's our 'trademark' player? I struggle to name one.

Battle conceded the fewest goals of all key defenders in the league this year, apparently.

Better than a scrapper.

Yes, Battle has found his niche in the backline and is a valuable player.

I don't argue with this.
