Aren't there like a dozen De Konings? Shouldn't each Victorian club get one? Seems fair.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
There isnt many around and none who are free agents. Gardiner does fill in for Harris when he is out, so maybe he is a bit more prepared for the role.Saints58 wrote: ↑Mon 29 Aug 2022 5:59pmNot another 194cm player we have a few players around that height highmore 193,sharmon 193,hayes 194,Alliston 195,Battle 193Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Mon 29 Aug 2022 4:28pm Posters on BF are suggesting we are looking to bring in F/A Darcy Gardiner from Brisbane? I guess that answers our backup key defender needs to a degree?
How many more do we need what we do need is a big unit around 197cm and up to help Dougal against the big forwards.
If I had to chose for the club Id be going after Billy Frampton 201cm (ruckman turned key defender) at the Crows who is out of contract, so it would mean giving up pick or getting as a DFA. He would at least give us some big man versatility, but apparently Collingwood are chasing him also?

Tom Clurey from Port is someone I have always thought is a good backman & would be a handy trade!

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Why would we want a slow inside - handball first accumulator - clearance mid
When we have
Steele
Crouch
Ross
We need a power mid/forward

That would be a ludicrous decision…De Goey and Zurhar would be good fits.
Zurhar for Hill a fair trade!

I've my fingers crossed but suspect we may miss him by 3 or 4 selections.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Wed 31 Aug 2022 8:31am

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Cam McKenzie definitely but he's unlikely to still be on the table at St Kilda's FRDP #10.
But the November draft has a wealth of very promising mids likely to debut in their 1st year, like Windhager and Owens, such as big bodied Elijah Hewett who I've had my eyes on for a while, has that all important x-factor about him too, he's #11 in this clip and forgive me if I've posted this before:

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Article on The Age website saying Clarkson has approached Hill and Ben Long.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/cla ... 5bedw.html
Happy for Hill to go at the right price. Would prefer to keep Long.

Long can walk straight to North for nothing. Hill will require a trade or draft pick or future draft pick, one, two or a mix of all three.

Mitchell is completely NOT what we need. It would be a deplorable move by the club if they trade for him.Saints58 wrote: ↑Wed 31 Aug 2022 11:17pmSam Edmund was saying that our management have been seeing talking to Tom Mitchel people a few times.

The report was that Mitchell’s manager was seen talking to Saints officials…managers have multiple players on their books, so could have been in relation to any one of his clients.

Yes but remember North get first pick of the uncontracted and those not drafted, FA & RFA mean nothing.st.byron wrote: ↑Thu 01 Sep 2022 8:30amLong is uncontracted but not a F.A. is that right?Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 31 Aug 2022 11:03pm Long can walk straight to North for nothing. Wouldnt Long have to negotiate the National Draft first before being available to North in the PSD? If we can't work out a trade deal for him ..... and we have a contract offer on the table for him

Whatever we do this or future trade / draft periods let us not make this mistake again. We are picking young people who want to be the best AFL players they can be, not speak at the UN - that said, he'd probably speak well.
Let this be your legacy Trout, may this always be brought up in your presence. Hard to believe you got paid Club money to make that mistake.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
The Saints have NO idea what consitutes a good football club so if they are considering Tom Mitchell then that just proves my point, unfortunately.
Let's recruit for Wooden Spoon number 28, stick to our strengths.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
