Wanganeen Milera
Very interested in his selection
Looks a talent, no doubt. Cleary an outside winger with a good step and nice foot skills.
But always a go home risk.
And we did leave quality on table to select him at 11
Local Sandy boys Josh Sinn and Campbell Chesser at 12 and 14
And midfielder Ben Hobbs at 13
Now it looks like he wants to go back to SA
Would you ask/do a direct swap for Josh Sinn?
I would

Yes hes clearly a talent but if he wants to go Sinn is an ideal trade for both clubs.B.M wrote: ↑Wed 31 Aug 2022 1:05pm Very interested in his selection

Source of that rumour other than this site?
Nobody, I mean nobody is reporting this.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
There is no credible substance to the rumor he wants to go home just people making assumptions. If he wasn't from SA no one would even care that he hasn't extended his contract yet.
Can we be a little smarter and just not? At least wait until there is something credible out there to back it up.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
Let’s just work out whether he wants to stay before we go swapping him out. It’s natural for a young kid to miss home. I’d be surprised if he didn’t to some degree.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
I know for a fact that he has stated he was homesick - it is however a HUGE jump to 'he wants to go home'. I would think that looking at Windhager/Owens/NWM that they will be our 'pact' group.
As an indigenous boy - I cannot imagine many better clubs to be at.

You partially quoted my response. Poor form!SaintPav wrote: ↑Wed 31 Aug 2022 2:39pmUnfortunately, there are many people in this world like yourself who base reality on this one criteria.
I asked for the source of the rumour as nobody is reporting it.
I don't place any credence on random, anonymous posters on a fan forum that represents a miniscule sample size of the number of football followers.
There are so many articles this time of year that have all sorts of trade rumours. Not one of them has mentioned NWM.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
He is contracted with us for another year and there nothing in the mainstream supposed ITK media mentioning him wanting to leave or being homesick
Apart from SD saying he knows he is homesick and some Facebook rumblings that's about it ..... and the fact that he hasn't extended
So it seems 1 + 1 + 1 = 497 in some posters heads

Re: Wanganeen Milera
If BM says he has packed up all his belongings and returned to Adelaide on a permanent basis, then that is the fact.
BM also informs that he shared his removal truck with James Gallagher, who is also back in Adelaide on a permanent basis.
BM also informs that, as St Kilda does not have a credible AFL standard footballer on its List, the Club will fold next week.
The upshot of this is, now reliant on Jo's employment, Jo and Brett have their Croydon home on the market.
So there you go!
The purpose of this site existing is now non existent.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
What the hell are you crapping on about?
Owens - signed
Windhager - signed
Wanganeen Milera - unsigned
Rumours of homesickness- did they come out of thin air?
I hope he re-signs
He’s clearly got talent
If he wants to go home, get fair Compo imo while he’s in contract
Unlike Jamie Cripps and Tom Lynch
Where we turned pick 24 into pick 43 and pick 12 into pick 37

Re: Wanganeen Milera
How has Josh Son gone this year, I didn't watch Adelaide this year.
From memory he was a HBF, which we have plenty of.
If there is truth to the NWM go home factor, it confirms the concerns around inter state drafting.
You would think with all the indigenous program, the fact that his Dad played for us etc, he would feel at home, but if not, we may as well get an equivalent young talent in return.

I never got the hype personally
Was a big fan of Sonsie who many had going further down the list. Richmond picked him up and he debuted with 6 games to go and is averaging 17possessions a game
Rozee is certainly the tact I’d take

Re: Wanganeen Milera
He is another Jamie Cripps ...you can't blame him..probaly spewed up when we picked him . So young that he doesn't see the forest for the trees . He has talent and is getting better but will blossom in a home environment. It's how some people are ..me I wanted to leave home at 16.

Rare would be the young player who moves interstate that is not somewhat homesick. Question always is, whether is enough to make them want to leave.

AFL players and the AFL in general are a soft joke
Look at international soccer and the way the players get shifted around .
Home sick after one season .....please

Whimps
In the UK it is usual for anyone with a reasonable academic record to go on to a university.
But not like in Australia, to a university in your home town capital, but to a university town living away from home in share houses.
Our 18 years olds are softer than butter that has been left out over night and copped the morning sunshine.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
surely when they interview a player ... any player ... they get an indication of where their head is at.
Interstate players should be assessed for how they will cope. What the club has to help them cope.
Cant let a first round player walk after 1 year.
A very very poor reflection of the club if that is the case.

FFS - the ONLY thing I have heard is that he was/is feeling home-sick - I did not mention it here because of the 'Sky is Falling' mentality - There has been NO talk (that I am aware of) of him wanting to go homerepta wrote: ↑Fri 02 Sep 2022 4:59pm surely when they interview a player ... any player ... they get an indication of where their head is at.

Re: Wanganeen Milera
Unlike the other two boys
Why didn’t he extend??
I’m sure a contract would’ve been put in front of him…
I think he’s got ability, hope he stays, but won’t be surprised if he joins 4-5 other indigenous boys and walks…
