Sounds like a good prospect, if we recruited Lewis Hayes i wonder if he'd play his first AFL game for the Saints before both Allison and Adams ?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 17 Aug 2022 11:35pm Did anyone else know that Easterns Lewis Hayes was Jack Hayes's younger brother?

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Ryder has to be moved on
Hill traded
Billings traded
Jones traded
Butler traded
If we are really bold even look at Gresham if pick 1-10 is on the table but I think keep Gresham and make him a star forward. Move butler on (the Higgins butler combo does not work!) either that or piss Lade off and get a proper fwd line coach. It’s either the coach or the players..??
To ‘go again’ with top ups from other clubs is fools gold.
Everything we do from now on should be to get high picks and bring in elite talent. No player over the age of 24 should be looked at. Priority has to be 18-20 years olds.
We should be looking at
Horne francis
Tanner Bruan
Miller berman
Will Gould
Andrew McGrath would be great being he is 24 and has leadership potential. When he is 28, if we get it right, he will be one of those leaders we need alongside a 29 year old Steele and a 25 year old max king.
We need to park the Degoey and Amon stuff and look to build this list properly.

Billy Frampton would be a nice replacement for Joyce
202cm marks the ball, has played mostly as a fwd and has had time down back at crows now.

Also players like
Ross
Membrey
Webster
Will not be there when we have a list good enough to be top 4 so keep them to develop others but no attachment needed.

I've had my eyes on Billy Frampton for a while but not as a key tall defender which St Kilda already has with Howard and Battle. The Recruit wrote: ↑Sat 20 Aug 2022 1:05pm Billy Frampton would be a nice replacement for Joyce

Now that Paddy Ryder has announced his retirement I'd be looking for another up and coming ruckman, but not just a fill-in like Campbell who is not highly rated and has never reached the levels of HO that he achieved with the Bulldogs in 2017, so well past his best.
While he's listed as defender by the Crows, Billy in fact played in the ruck in 2020/21 so he's got plenty of experience.
If you look at Adelaide's list Billy is one of four 200 cm+ talls on their books and with Reilly O'Brien and Riley Thilthorpe favoured as specialist rucks this year, being out of contract he may well like a fresh start at a club where he can expect to get regular games.
At 26 he's at the right age, when the bigger blokes usually start to hit their straps.
Adelaide has another ruckman rookie-listed: Kieran Strachan, 27, played just 5 games, that could be looked at.
"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

He is actually the younger brother of Sam Hayes, who also played for Eastern and was drafted by Port Adelaide. He does look like a promising type and good size for a KPD.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 17 Aug 2022 11:35pm Did anyone else know that Easterns Lewis Hayes was Jack Hayes's younger brother?

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Talk that we are interested in Essondon ruckman Nick Bryan
20yo 202cm and Draper ahead of him
Looks a decent package - good height, one grab mark, solid skills, and great age with plenty of scope for development
Only issue is that you are dealing with Dodildo .... he will want two 1st rounders where he is probably worth a pick in the 30s/40s

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
There are a few rucks in play besides Bryan. Flynn (GWS) and Meek (Freo) are also being spoken about. All probably fit our list demographic if we are to play a two FWD / RCK system.
Interesting that Barrett is going with Paddy was pushed & expects him to suit up for his 4th Club. I find that hard to believe. I hope the Saints let Paddy make the decision.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Just goes to show that there are 'diamonds' in the country leagues if clubs have resources to find them -
https://www.afl.com.au/news/829751/home ... e-big-time
I really believe we restrict our recruiting base by not looking outside the box at times. I know when I was playing there was probably 3 or 4 players in each of the country leagues that were good enough to play VFL/AFL given the opportunities. For what ever reason they didnt make junior state sides (late bloomers or distance) and became content playing local footy. I have a cousin who starred in the Mid Murray league for years and Richmond tried numerous times to get him down. There wasnt as much money in the game then, he had a good job and was being payed well by his home club, so chose to stay.
If the club want to find these 'diamonds' they simply have to be more adventurous in their recruiting and look every where, not just in state leagues.

It's a pity Weideman isn't up for contract renewal. There's something about him and Marshall sharing ruck / fwd responsibilities that would strengthen our list, our attack and transition.
I guess we must be patient with Heath but Paddy's departure (retirement?) tests that patience.

Plenty of discussion about St Kilda NGA Cam Mackenzie and how we won't get him as will be taken before selection 40.
Anybody seen St Kilda NGA Sam Latreille from Dandenong Stingrays? FP, HFF played 13 games, 5 times best players, 10 goals. Cat B Rookie??? I read on another forum that as a junior at Carrum Downs he was an absolute stand out. Appears to be doing well at Dandenong Stingrays.
Any other St Kilda NGAs we should know about?

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
I've been really keen on St Kilda NGA Cameron McKenzie who's considered a top 6 pick which means he's unlikely to be there for the Saints' FRDP, expected to drift out to 10.
But there's a wealth of very promising midfielders in the November draft, and on The Roar's phantom draft they have St Kilda taking Elijah Hewett - check him out on Youtube here:
Big bodied indigenous kid from WA, 186 cm 82 kg with pace. Wouldn't mind him either!

How many more do we need what we do need is a big unit around 197cm and up to help Dougal against the big forwards.
