James Gallagher under pressure
Rumblings that Gallagher might not survive the review.
Surprised me but rumour is the players don’t like him.
Targeting NWM who wants to go home in his first year and Brad Hill recruiting doesn’t help.
Must be useless..???
Anyone else shed some light..?

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
If you discount bringing in Windhager, Owens, NWM, Hayes, Wood and Wilkie among others I guess you could mount a case.
Sounds like nonsense to me. Why do the players have to like him? Who says they don't, and why. Tough negotiator with player agents? That's his job. Front bar piffle.
In any case Hill and Hannebery are not on James. Are they Simon?

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
How much interaction would the players have with him and why would it be relevant?
NWM seems like a good choice even if he does go home. Clearly a highly talented player which is what is essence you want from players your recruiting. Still a better choice to a lesser player from Melbourne.
And Hill… I still don’t think it’s the disaster it’s made out to be.
I don’t really get it.
Seems to me that overall he’s done alright

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
I doubt very much the "rumblings" are correct? Gaggs is one voice on a list management team and he can hardly be blamed for Hill when the entire club were boots an all on bringing him in. Just remember back to the state of the list when he came to the club. The club have just promoted him and his management of recruiting team in particular has turned things around. The Recruit wrote: ↑Sun 28 Aug 2022 10:59am Rumblings that Gallagher might not survive the review.

Again the NWM situation is still rumours and the club have another year to settle him into life in Melbourne, if not they hold the cards in a club wanting to trade. Also remember that it was Lethlean that bought him in and they are very tight, so I very much doubt Gaggs is going anywhere!
For what its worth I believe Gaggs has done great job of managing the list and the salary cap.

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
So much absolute nonsense with rumours that are totally unfounded by actual facts, what proof has anyone provided to confirm that Wanganeen Milera is unhappy and wants to leave Moorabbin and play in SA in 2023, so much media hype and it's only going to get worse in the coming months. Yes he's only signed to next year but a lot can happen in 12 months.
The only substantiated story is that Clarkson (I think he was responding to a media question) has indicated he wouldn't mind seeing Bradley Hill in North Melbourne colours, nothing more.
In regard to Hill, he has a signed contract at $800k-$900k till end 2025 and unless he's prepared to walk away from that I can't imagine St Kilda are going to release him to North unless they pick up the full pay package.

This sort of rumour would come from the school of Caro, Barrett, Cornes and Robbo.
Unfounded, baseless, and designed to generate clickbait.
It's a rumour possibly created by people loyal to the Bombers and Blues, desperate to turn the spotlight away from their respective clubs for a brief respite.
'Players don't like him?'
What utter rot.
Player managers deal with him at contract time, then he's out of the picture for 3 years.
No daily interactions with him unless they spot him in the lunchroom

Also...if he was at the club back when the McCartin/Petracca conversation was happening, I"d bet he'd have pushed for the 'arrogant bull' rather than the bearded guy

Haha, what a load of BS.. tell me where you heard this?
The players would have sweet f*** all to do with him 99% of the time.
He's not even been in the role very long, not long enough to say he's done well or poorly.
These rumors only serve to damage our club. Good one OP

They just promoted him this week, and Lethlean who is on the review panel was the guy that brought him to the club and is now the CEO.
Gags will be at St Kilda in 2023.

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
He is getting games and I highly doubt he will play more than a couple more games at Sandringham ever again, expecially now with Hannebery retiring.

Probably. But expect him to be based in Adelaide.

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
I reckon Gags has gone well.
He's brought in good talent often with low draft picks or mid season picks.
He's not in charge of development, that's someone else's portfolio

Re: James Gallagher under pressure
Not sure how players that have nothing to do with recruiting (and probably haven't said two words to him in a year) would influence the recruiting manager being sacked!!The Recruit wrote: ↑Sun 28 Aug 2022 10:59am Rumblings that Gallagher might not survive the review.
