What did he change ?
Nothing.................................
He kept his head over the ball when he had a set shot and followed through instead of leaning back as he kicked. As did Membrey. Simple stuff too often forgotten during the heat of the game.
The big plus was his general play around the ground, great to watch.

Max King also becomes just the 11th St Kilda player to have 90+ scoring shots in a home & away season, joining...
Stephen Milne - 2008, 12
Nick Riewoldt - 2004, 06, 08-09
Fraser Gehrig - 2004-07
Jason Heatley - 1997
Stewart Loewe - 1992, 95-96
Tony Lockett - 1984-85, 87, 89-92
George Young - 1975-78
Allan Davis - 1971
Bill Young - 1957
Bill Mohr - 1930-36
Fair list - with all respect Heatley and Davis while very good players are the exceptions on this list. You have every other player listed would make a top 40 in picking an All time StKilda team .
No one saying King there yet however in a league where no one has kicked a 100 goals in a long time it is a very good achievement and shows the potential and i see him more likely (injury allowing) joining the list rather than an outlier.

Yep, has gone 52.41 for the year. That's the best return from a tall forward we've had since Roo. Yet there are trolls who claim he "can't play in the forward line".
He had 3 bad games where he went 0.5, 1.7 and 2.5, but apart form that has been very good, with returns including 6.0, 5.0, and 4.1 a couple of times.
The Coleman medallist has gone 3.9 over the last 2 weeks in games Carlton have collectively lost by less than a goal and subsequently missed finals, where's the carry on about that?
So excluding those 3 shockers (and he was not on his own) he kicked at 67% for the rest of the season?

If you have a Bee in your Bonnet - I can assist you with that - but it WILL involve some smacking upside the head!
The is guy will be amazing. His growth in his numbers are very exciting. Once he feels more confident in the system and learns the odd trick watch out AFL.
Stark reality is:
King IS a good player
King CANNOT free himself from a double team
King MUST have a very competent foil or he falls prey...
He DID not improve this week, nor did he degress.
He had Marshall beside in the forward line and this freed him. One on one he's pretty decent.
If he gets anymore attention he squanders the relentless kicks to him ( his teammates ignoring the other forward who is often open and is much more effective at goal kicking).
That thug Paddy McCartin…did he get cited for charging at Max and wrestling him and trying to choke him on the ground
Did you see how angry Paddy McCartin got when Max accidentally elbowed his brother Tom in the jaw?
Is it his diabetes that he’ll be blaming that makes him turn into a psychopath
By the way…can you imagine how busy the guy is on the Swans forum who is their very own CURLY. He’ll be questioning why the umpires always crucify them and why Max King wasn’t cited for the stray elbow

I don't recon the Swans version of Curly would be too unhappy, his club are very close to being a premiership team, and Paddy more than likely will have one or more premiership medallions before he retires. What a story, from psychopath to inspirational legend of the AFL and a generation of kids with a serious medical condition. I just wish King had 1 tenth of Paddy's attitude.
It was a good turnaround. Although, it’s all psychological with Max. The pressure of making finals no longer weighed on his shoulders. But yeah, he still had a decent season (50+ goals is now respectable output for any key forward). Let’s hope he can have a big preseason and start to go that next level in 2023.
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!
Making good progress in games played each season as well. In his three seasons he's played 18, 20 and 22 games. So next year he'll play 24 which means we win a final and the following year he'll play 26 which guarantees us a spot in the granny.

how many of the 5 goals were from set shots ?
This. I can recall one.
At the moment, a much better kick in-play.
I remember JB (remember that guy? ) was perceived to have this problem in the press. Good field kick and poor at set shots. But he nailed a few thereafter, before going to the Fringe Festival.
