Bye Mr Joyce.
Hope List Management have an AFL standard replacement on their radar.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Joyce delisted
I’m glad these idiotic Irish experiments seem to have ended.
There are so many gems in the state leagues that were not picked up in the draft.
Marshall
Wilke
Hayes
etc.

I never thought he was really that close to it… but he gave it everything he had and was a consummate professional.
Played a handful of games at the highest level…
Got to respect that.

Whatever comes next, good luck to him. Tried his best. Got to play AFL football and stayed on a list for a long time.

Re: Joyce delisted
Perhaps a little harsh. Joyce was inexplicably given games back when he was nowhere near ready and then this year when he was clearly much better he barely got a look in. With that said, he never quite seemed completely up to the level. It wouldn't have surprised me if he found his feet with an extended run in the senior though.
Good luck to him. Teams could do worse than pick him up on a rookie contract as readymade backup. I'm hoping that we have a 197cm Wilkie hidden away in the state leagues somewhere to replace him.

Yep. It’s not as if we are blessed with great key position stocks. It’s boys against men sometimes.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 26 Aug 2022 9:44pm Thanks Darragh.
I really hope the club have another key defender in mind?
We lack quality talls with the exception of probably Marshall, King and Howard (though some argue he’s not up to it).
Battle punches admirably above his weight as does Wilkie, but they’re not quite key position size. Nor are Membrey or Sharman.
We get Hayes back and he showed in his few games that he can hold down a key position, at least structurally.
And then we have a surplus of flankers. McKenzie, Webster, Coffield, Clark, Webster, Sinclair and probably others who can slot in.
Run is one thing - I know Ratten values it above just about everything - but height and strength (aerial and physical) shouldn’t be overlooked or underestimated.

Re: Joyce delisted
I wonder why he wasn’t tried on a wing or midfield in the VFL.
Good running capacity and agile.
Great athletically but always looked a step behind in reacting as a key back.
Hopefully he plays VFL and potentially gets another crack at the top level.

Re: Joyce delisted
In the last few years we have lost 4 KPD's - Carlisle, Clav, Frawley now Joyce - Adams is the only replacement brought in and he by all accounts is way off it atm.
Surely they must have a KPD trade/free agent ( or 2) in mind as replacment ?
