I think the lack of respect for our players on this site is appalling. To play 100 AFL games is an achievement. To Dean Kent, thank you for your contribution to the St Kilda Football Club, we wish you well for the future.
To the critics and miserable sour people on this site that are being so mean spirited about this player retiring - did you play 100 AFL games? If not then shut your mouth.
I would have added"f******" before mouth by otherwise , good post.
Were either Hanners or Kent responsible for any of the disgraceful performances of the team this year? Answer: Of course not, so why all the angst FFS ?

ollingwood beat Carlton by 75 points, however unlikely, Saints need to win by 60+ to make finals. (And yes, if you win 12 games in a season you deserve finals).
We cop an injury in the first 5mins and on strolls Kent after doing nothing all season..
No one here hates Kent, we hate the team selection and continued lack of thought or integrity.
No one hates him? Pull the other one. How go you explain this post then?

Good luck with life after football Mr Kent.
On here at least he has become one of the most despised Saints players that i can remember.
Next."
Yeah, thats not good. But i dont hate him but im certainly within my rights to express my displeasure in his selection.
I’ve read many many posts criticising his performance, questioning his selection and retention on the list.
I’ve also read with consistency that he’s good clubmen, is well liked amongst his team mates and coaches, has a positive attitude and trains hard. Heck I posted as much in my stinging criticism of him after round one.
The fact that he’s well liked and was rated internally for a time at least is obvious and demonstrated in the results.
I doubt anyone hates him with the majority of the critics not wanting him to play based on merit. Ppl may find that harsh but all he needed to do was perform at Sandy and he would have had more opportunity.
Seems to me that the emotionally over invested, hateful forumites wanting to make it personal aren’t those that are critical of the selection

Hateful forumites, exactly what i was talking about, mostly about where that hate was directed.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Emotionally hysterical just repeating the same thing over and over
Post one hateful, personal Kent comment I’ve made

I can't be bothered with the discourse.

Lol. And yet you’re obsessively following me around.
I’ll preface this by saying I haven’t watched the game.
Looking at the stat sheet it looks like Kent came on in the 3rd?
Upon reflection... I kind of felt a bit bad for him.
If the club was really determined to give him a farewell game... why not just give him a full game instead of a half or subbing him on later?
Obviously I wouldn’t have played him myself... but if we were going to do it, surely one of Butler or Higgins could have started as the sub for a week and he could have had more than a half to make a go of it.

I feel for him for not getting a chair-off with Hannebery & Ryder.
Bad oversight by the lads.
Ratts said luckless Dean broke his thumb after he came on. He probably had the pain and damage of that preoccupying him and any lifting by others would have been irresponsible. Just a thought.
