Re: What a Kent
Oh well, nice gesture, there's nothing really on the line this weekend for us so it's a dead rubber.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Extended bench?
I've got my doubts that he takes the field.
Medi-sub maybe

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Played a hundred more AFL games than anyone on this site!
Probably very few on here have played 100 footy games!
Have a little respect

Re: What a Kent
Respect for what ? For the fact that he was an ordinary player at his time at the Saints . I wish him all the best in what ever he does after his stint at St.Kilda & to get 100 games good on him but IMO at his time at the Saints he was ordinary & gifted more games than he should have under Richo but as said IMO

Re: What a Kent
He played for StK
Therefore he gets my respect
Play 1 game of AFL footy - and you’re a gun footballer
Because that means you’ve been a dominant junior - to get drafted - you’ve dominated state league - to get picked!
I respect Lewis Pierce
He only got a couple of games
And Won a VFL B&F
And if he played local footy he’d have won a league B&F
Me
I respect that level of ability
And
He wore the jumper - not in the grandstand as a supporter- but in the field of battle - at the elite level!

Re: What a Kent
I respect what he has achieved but the game has passed him by & the last few years he hasn't had what's required to play at AFL level injuries & age take their toll . I don't think I'm disrespectful I think I'm being realistic but that's only my opinion .B.M wrote: ↑Sat 20 Aug 2022 12:01am He played for StK

Re: What a Kent
I respect what he has achieved through out his career & I'm sure he is a great character around the club & the playing group love him . I bare no malice to Dean & as I have already said I wish him all the best but if you think he has been an AFL standard player in his last few years well that's fine but I don't . I guess it's a matter of opinion but I won't bag you for yoursShaggy wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 11:42pm100 games. Re: What a Kent
Good riddance.
Absolute dud of the highest order.
People need to see that as long as VAFA D3 players are on the list then we will continue to be terrible.
How many years on the list???
Why would no one else take him I wonder….
Cheerio.

Re: What a Kent
Absolutely terrible recruit for St Kilda. He played maybe 3 good games during his time with us. With that said, seems like a good guy and I'm fine with him getting to play his 100th as the sub in a dead rubber. I like to see the club treating players as humans and not just resources. It's a travesty that Goose Maguire never got to play his 100th with the saints.

Re: What a Kent
Sounds like a 50/50 split as to how people see Kent getting a gifted game.
Not sure how many of the best, most successful clubs would look after a fringe player at the expense of getting experience into a youngster.
Seems like a sentimental decision, and we seem to have that as our modus operandi.

Re: What a Kent
"Kent joined St Kilda alongside fellow retiree Dan Hannebery during the 2018 Trade Period, lining up for 36 St Kilda games to-date after a previous 63 for Melbourne.
After last appearing in Saints colours in this year’s season opener against Collingwood, Kent has battled through form and injury issues before earning a chance at his milestone game.
“Dean has been a resilient and loyal part of our football program since arriving at the club, quickly becoming a popular and respected teammate,” Head of Football David Rath said."

Re: What a Kent
ollingwood beat Carlton by 75 points, however unlikely, Saints need to win by 60+ to make finals. (And yes, if you win 12 games in a season you deserve finals).
We cop an injury in the first 5mins and on strolls Kent after doing nothing all season..
No one here hates Kent, we hate the team selection and continued lack of thought or integrity.

Re: What a Kent
Can't believe there's so many mean-spirited so-called Saints supporters on this forum.
The bloke's worn the club jumper with pride for 63 game, and yes, he was not ever the most talented player on the list, but that doesn't mean that it's OK to kick him in the guts when he leaves.
There's an old Chinese saying part of which is:
"Do you realise that when you kick a man when he's down, you're kicking yourself?"
"Give him another kick, you deserve it!"

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Re: What a Kent
It’s interesting
Labelling an AFL player who played 100 games a dud footballer
Coming from people who very likely have never kicked a ball in anger!
I’m sure Dean wouldn’t waste his time in D3 amateurs
But he might go to an EFL club or MPNFL Club and get $1000 a game and dominate- Like Armo, Gilbert and TDL are doing!

Re: What a Kent
I think the lack of respect for our players on this site is appalling. To play 100 AFL games is an achievement. To Dean Kent, thank you for your contribution to the St Kilda Football Club, we wish you well for the future.
To the critics and miserable sour people on this site that are being so mean spirited about this player retiring - did you play 100 AFL games? If not then shut your mouth.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.
