White flag
What does it say for club culture, throwing in the white flag to Sydney, giving guys testimonial send offs for players that have basically given nothing to the club.
Don’t get me wrong. Not their fault they were picked, nor their fault they were not good enough or injured. But what are we actually perpetuating as a club basically giving up and throwing a couple of blokes a game? It’s not like they’re club champions. Again, not their fault but as a club this just shows a sense of defeat and ongoing mediocrity
Just my two cents

Re: White flag
Strategic move ok with it
Going out Sunday won’t even watch it
Bring on finals
Best teams, we’ll coached teams playing

Re: White flag
That’s just your interpretation. It’s not mutually exclusive for a club to honour and respect their players while at the same time playing to win. How do you know if it doesn’t inspire the guys to give Hanners and Kenty a good send off?MC Gusto wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 9:11pm What does it say for club culture, throwing in the white flag to Sydney, giving guys testimonial send offs for players that have basically given nothing to the club.

The only selection query I have is why Bytel wasn’t rewarded with a game at senior level but we’ll find out soon enough what the reasons are
E.g. If Bytel is being courted by other clubs and he wants to leave and the coach is aware of it, then there’s no point playing him

Re: White flag
Im actually ok with Hanners getting a game. He's still in our best 22 when fit and he's had a good career.MC Gusto wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 9:11pm What does it say for club culture, throwing in the white flag to Sydney, giving guys testimonial send offs for players that have basically given nothing to the club.

Kent on the other hand should've been delisted 2 years ago, hasnt played well and hasnt got any kind of history ala Kosi getting to 200 games.
It just smacks of mediocrity. Whatever happens next year, Bytel has actually earnt a game. If not then Brynes does.
Its just sums up the the selection process this year, the lack of backbone shown by selectors.
Ratten tells us unacceptable performances will result in omissions yet only young players and Zac Jones paid the price, whilst other repeat offenders kept getting games.
Anyway , hope we put on a good attacking show

Hanners has the monkey off his back he could be amazing or do a calf in the first quarter but he will definitely be giving it everything nothing to lose now.

May as well just tell Bytel to look elsewhere.
We haven't got alot of Under 22 talent, so when one is battering on the door for a call up...we play Kent

Re: White flag
We win by 10 goals, Carlton lose by 10, Doggies lose or draw, and we play finals. Yes 1 in a 100 shot but what sort of club throws in the towel before the bell?
As it is with us giving up and Sydney needing a big win to keep a top two spot we could get absolutely hammered.

Re: White flag
Tell me how good Bytel is. Can't even get a game at the Saints. Too slow for AFL and not skilled enough to make up for it. Why should he get a game?Banger9798 wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 10:12pmAnother terrible decision for the year.MC Gusto wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 9:11pm What does it say for club culture, throwing in the white flag to Sydney, giving guys testimonial send offs for players that have basically given nothing to the club.

Re: White flag
The selections are a club looking backwards, rather than forwards.
A proactive club would be getting a game into Bytel rather than players with no future.
It may help Hannas to geta game at the Cats next year.

Re: White flag
When your best on for Sandy for last couple of weeks, you're entitled to have a crack. Where does Kent get us? Will run around, kick it out on the full and miss set shots. Let's see Bytel at the coalface, and see what he's got this yearmagnifisaint wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 10:18pmTell me how good Bytel is. Can't even get a game at the Saints. I think it’s a bit embarrassing
Only fathomable logic is that Kent might have a son one day.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: White flag
In fairness... I’ve had the same few for a while
Kent and Joyce (not that Darragh has been a fixture)
Never liked the Hannebery deal
Was critical of Ross’ form at times, especially in 2020 but have never argued that he be delisted or traded. Certainly stepped it up this year and silenced the doubters.
Unlike many here... I’m not all that reactive and am fairly consistent in my assessments of players. Opinions form over time and change over time.

Let's see what our list looks like for 2023, hopefully there isn't any scapegoats, although knowing a St Kilda list that seems unlikely.

I’ve had the same view on Kent since 2020... just the utter disillusionment of his continued selection and retention on the list has grown.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 11:20pmYes, you have had the same view on Kent since the round 1 loss.skeptic wrote: ↑Fri 19 Aug 2022 11:13pmIn fairness...
