Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
A few thoughts. Anyone that thinks what Ratts says in public is the same as behind closed doors is a little naive.
First instinct to protect and support the player
, And not add to the pressure by keeping it indoors is paramount.
Saints would give access to the best, he currently works with an elite, forward and a renowned biomechanical kicking expert.
If they thought Lloyd could help the would hire him, but as a media person, he can't be trusted to keep his mouth and ego in check.
I also suspect the last thing max needs is noise from multiple sources giving him tips.
Finally, max can kick, it's more above the shoulders and his focus is likely more on the consequences of a miss, rather than the routine.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Symptomatic of how so often we get caught between the worst of things. Club through the spokesman coach comes across as petulant and bloody minded when he could have had a smart put down ready and not begged the question about Max's composure.
At the same time the media does its self-righteous hypocritical look at me routine and we have to cop it.
Be nice if our club had heavy hitters in regard to PR/Media rather than being the go to sitting duck.
Media are not going to change.
Onus now on Ratten to infuse Max with composure. Not sure he has helped the ground work by publicly saying ball has not been delivered well to Max or publicly saying he will come good. Softly softly on some things Brett, nuance and discretion until problem solved then it speaks for itself.

Let’s all get precious about what Lloyd said instead of actually wanting something done about it. This isn’t something that will just fix itself, bloke has no momentum walking in and ffs f*** that stupid spinning of the ball off. Guy could be an absolute gun for us but if he needs help please just get him it from whichever avenue needed.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Is Max just telling the coaching group that he’ll do it his way? Maybe they, the club, hyper aware that Max is the great white hope said something like, “You do it your way Max. We are here if you need us. Just one rule, we ‘ain’t gonna hire a media whore who goes on the radio five times a week and is already linked to you through Hailbery College”
I am not knocking Lloyd but the reason him and Cornes have become such stars is because they have a crack at players, coaches, teams etc. who are currently active. That makes them precious commodities. And they are taking it to the bank.
Saints caught between a rock and a hard place. Last thing they need is Lloyd telling Hutchy about how kicking practice went with Maxy this week on national TV every Monday.

I think we get the bigger picture here, You don't like Matthew Lloyd.Templar wrote: ↑Sun 14 Aug 2022 1:55pm No one is saying that Kingy shouldnt work on his kicking nor with whom.
One thing for sure, Lloyd trying to embarrass him and the club on tv and radio every time King has a bad day is not something that helps. In fact it is a total dog act.
And you can bet that Lloyd will be continuing his Max shaming theatrics all week every chance he gets on TV and Radio.
No wonder Max hasnt called him back.
Max should call him today and tell him to STFU.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Couldn't give a stuff about Lloyd. Footy celebrity trying stay relevant under the pretence he has a kid's best interest at heart. If he was fair dinkum he would be talking to Max on the quiet instead of going out of his way to create a media circus pile on. Fricken hyopcrite.
Seriously can't believe how many people defer to the authority of celebrity voices on the telly and radio.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
I read an article recently where Stewie talked about his goal kicking problems early in his career. He said the one thing he wished he’d done earlier was to listen to one person rather than take advice from every man and his dog.
Hopefully the Saints have got the right person working with Max.
Interesting to note that from mid way through last year until mid way through this year Max kicked 57-31, since then he’s kicked 15-19. It would be interesting to know what has changed.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

You want King to end up at the drug cheats den, then let Lloyd who is still a dons recruiter, coach him. No thanks.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 14 Aug 2022 2:28pmLOL.
The two talk regularly. You act like like Max has not spoken with him for years.
You act like King himself has not stated that he needs to work on his action, and that he knows that he needs help to do so.
Lloyd has only restated what has been known for two seasons now.
Last year Max requested that the club allow Lloyd be able to work with him one on his action. The club refused.
Fair enough, but then the club needs to find someone else to work with him to sort his action out. They have failed to achieve a better action.
I do not care who it is. Fact is King's action is poor. Second fact is club has had two years to improve it and has failed.
The club needs to have someone focus on improving his action with him. I do not care who it is, except whomever it has been for the last two years has failed. We need someone else.

Didn't he sign a $4m contract and become the face of St.Kilda's hopes and dreams just after it became completely apparent that him and his brother weren't going to fullfil their childhood dream and reunite in their Bayside Mansion.remboy wrote: ↑Sun 14 Aug 2022 3:41pmI read an article recently where Stewie talked about his goal kicking problems early in his career. Geeez it would be interesting to know what the message is at the moment.
I mean that’s the crux of this issue isn’t it.
From outside, Lloyd’s suggestions seem on point but we don’t know for example, what is being taught, what isn’t working and why.

According to the coach, who may have a better handle on it, Roughy is helping King with his kicking..

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
If Plugger was paid the amount of free kicks Matthew Lloyd was paid he would have kicked 2,000 goals. If he was fair dinkum he would have approached the club without any media exposure. He is a typical Essendon flog.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Apparently, as I said earlier, Lloyd has already help him with goal kicking. Must have come undone.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Well it’s not working. His technique is hopeless.
If that is Roughead coaching then perhaps he needs to be looked at.
Would back Lloyd or Dunstall any day.
Ratten comes across as an insecure and petulant.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Oh no. This won't do.
Roughie only sees Max most days and finished his career with 950 shots at goal, with 60% accuracy.
He did play further out, in the ruck, in the backline, oh and he has 4 premierships and a Coleman medal, 2 x AA, 3 leading goal kickers and played with Buddy there for a while. He also just recently retired straight into coaching. No good.
Surely we need that soft cocked, half witted, self promoting d**khead Lloyd to fix what he apparently already fixed in three years of Jnr football, coaching Max.

Do you know why Plugger isn't jumping up and down saying he can fix him, because he's not a f****** flog.

"There is very little difference between the two talls. But Max has the bragging rights in terms of height, coming in at 203.7cm at the AFL draft combine while twin Ben measured up at 202cm. "

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Did King just change his action when he got to St Kilda?
Wasn't a knock on King his goalkicking as a junior?
I believe King is still kicking exactly the same way he kicked as junior, under Lloyd's influence, sadly the pressure and intense scrutiny he's now under has caused a few more twirls of the footy.
Someone, somewhere has told him to relax, be more laconic as he begins to run in. He's taken this to stupid lengths. Relex should mean your mind, be confident in your method. Not relax your method.
I kind of agree with Templar, his mentor adding to this through the media would not help him at all. A coffee and a chat with his mentor would help which is why the Club being defensive of its structures around King is also wrong.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
Two more years of Cuddles Ratten and I fear Max will be shot.
Foe heaven's sake, get real.
The guy has the potential top be the new Buddy.
Ratten and co are turning him into the new Travis Cloke.
Anyone can see that his technque is dodgy and yet he continues to do it.
They've probably got psychiatrists helping hims meditate the problem away with positive waves.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog
What I don’t get about the whole ‘should have let Lloyd help him’ argument is was it ever suggested that this would be a several times a week, at the club/during training session role or just an hour or so a week session, chat and advice when needed thing?
If it’s the latter, what is the forward coach supposed to do with max during the rest of the week, just say ‘do what Lloydy said to do’? It’s already been said that one of the issues with goal kicking is too many voices, so is Lloyd supposed to be with max on a full time basis?

Did Lloyd lie?
If not where is the issue?
A guy who is paid for his opinion, giving it!
BTW, don’t think Lloyd is recruiting for the Druggies, the Board are not a fan of the way he slags their club.

FFS, the Pavlovian response to criticism on here is something else.
Watch this again. It's 100% right. St Kilda is run by clowns.
