Cats game
I am not one to throw up the white flag early - and yes we did beat them earlier in the year - but tell me, what is a respectable result against the cats at cardinia?
i think if we can stay close and competitive for the 4 quarters it will hold us in good stead for Syd and Bris at marvel.
If they blow us away...another story

Re: Cats game
It occurred to me that Geelong may well prefer St Kilda to win on Saturday in order to deny Richmond a spot in the finals, because if the Tigers do make it they will pose a real threat to all the other contenders. The same thought could also apply when the Saints play the other 2 games against guaranteed finalists Lions and Swans.
All the 3 teams need to do is to rest their 3 or 4 best players.....I'm sure it's happened before.
I doubt that losing any of the 3 matches would be a serious concern for any of the respective coaches.

I would have thought that the coaches of the Swans and the Lions would be keen to cement a spot in the top 4.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Wed 03 Aug 2022 3:30pm It occurred to me that Geelong may well prefer St Kilda to win on Saturday in order to deny Richmond a spot in the finals, because if the Tigers do make it they will pose a real threat to all the other contenders. No goalless quarter.
None of their fwds kicks more than 3.
No injuries to us.
Brayshaw not on commentary.

Re: Cats game
I'll be watching this game with my hands over my eyes. Playing them down there when they are in top form is every team's nightmare. Looks like it'll be a wet night, so that'll make it even tougher. They have a lot of huge bodies.
The worst outcome is that we get blown away in the first quarter.....a repeat of thefirst half of the Bulldogs game .

Re: Cats game
I’m prepared for a loss and look forward to a better year in 23
Am disappointed after a false start but am delighted with the emergence of Sinclair and Wilkie as elite.
Let’s get a mid and play finals

Think a wet night would be better for us .... or at least makes the game closercwrcyn wrote: ↑Wed 03 Aug 2022 4:53pm I'll be watching this game with my hands over my eyes. Re: Cats game
Yes, there have been some real positives in 2022. The emergence of NWM, Owens, and Windhager. The blossoming of McKenzie, the solid performance of Battle, Wilkie's continued form, Seb Ross's outstanding season, and Sinclair's AA form

Re: Cats game
Bet they don't tag Hill;
Bet Marcus gets a physical test early;
Bet Stewart spoils on the back of Max's head and or finds a way to put his knees into him on the ground.
Once it is appreciated that the Cats are an evil side working with the forces of darkness its easier to manage expectations.
Is Touhy back, I might take him as first goal kicker. But there will be a quick reply from Owens. As for umpires, well hang on to your interpretations, they will be as skewed towards the home side as Tommy H's eyes.

Re: Cats game
Guaranteed they are going to inflict physical pain on us. A bruising. They always do. Billings should thank his lucky stars if he misses and it would be cruel to name NWM.
Lienert needs to be a definite in.
Docs better bring a heap of denkorub and panadols for later.
Best tactic will be to try and keep them chasing. Not try to out muscle but out run. Make them chase. And convert all chances. Pack mark strategy wont be good. Will be a tough slog if it is wet. Whoever plays will be earning their keep. Don't envy them the task. But will barrack until the end.

Re: Cats game
Simple thing for Geelong game-..play total man-on-man. They have always exploited us in the outside run in recent years. Time for the coach to step up

I just don't want us to hand them easy goals on turnover, cos our guys upfield will be running away into the clear and when we fluff it, the Cats will grab it and sweep it back unchallenged.
I fear that will occur far too often.

Don’t like our chances much. We’d have to put the scoreboard pressure on early and take their entitled fans out of the equation.

Re: Cats game
thing about geelong - they always have a plan B. if by some miracle we outplay them in the first half, they'll turn the tables on us in the second half. unless of course we also have a plan B. Although er - I'm still trying to figure out our Plan A!

Re: Cats game
It feels like it will be one of those games, where we will either win a close one or get belted. Either way the group has to know their finals start now so normally you would expect a huge lift.

In theory, we have much more motivation, and there ends our advantage.

Part of the Cats game is to swing late selection changes ..

Re: Cats game
Someone said Stevic is umpiring the game. If so, we have no hope.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.
