I think Max will be a star
But no Plugger or Roo who dominated right from the outset
What I’ve been disappointed in this year at times is his attitude and body language

Opposition club list managers were asked who they would want from another clubs list. Of those that responded Max King and Petracca were one and two

That is Okay then - From the tone of this forum - many want him traded (maybe for Petracca)Goose is king wrote: ↑Sun 31 Jul 2022 5:05pm Opposition club list managers were asked who they would want from another clubs list. Of those that responded Max King and Petracca were one and two

Re: Max King
His lack of team play was evident a few times yesterday. I'm not sure what he is capable of, other than being a marking forward. He is big enough to be ruckman, but seems to get exhausted just running out onto the ground. Unlike Tim, he's not a great sacrificial leader. Unlike the very best kickers for goal, he kicks with a bent knee, which is the reason for his inaccuracy. But it's too late to change that now even if it is anatomically possible.

Has he had a breakout game yet or a game that belies his DP4 draft standing.
The excuse seems to be he's only 22 but I'm not so sure.
If he's not careful the media will turn on him and start to openly ask these types of questions.

No uncommon from athletes who have absolutely dominated at junior levels due to size & skill.
It needs to improve.

Re: Max King
I have seen enough of max to know how naturally talented he is
This guy is a game changer and I have little doubt he is going to get better
Now…….the only thing he needs now is a good kicking skills coach and to be coached properly game time.
We are lucky to have him

Re: Max King
Didn’t see the game yesterday. Was playing golf and keeping an eye on the score. Kept seeing: behind - Max King. Someone needs to get him aside, tell him to get his head out of his a..e and start doing what he’s paid to do ie kick goals instead of s……g himself, twirling the ball and missing. It’s extremely deflating for his team mates who have busted a gut upfield to get the ball to a scoring position.

One of the misses was dead in front only 20-25 metres out. All the rest were tight angles or from a fair distance away1965 Saint wrote: ↑Mon 01 Aug 2022 1:04am Didn’t see the game yesterday. He didn't go back far enough to take his kick for that easy set shot. It makes him kick upwards to kick over the man on the mark, instead of kicking through the footy with a natural kicking action
He doesn't follow through and point his big toe towards where he wants the football to go....I'm with Fireman

Re: Max King
He can’t kick by now - doubt he ever will be able to
Plus, I think it’s mental with him
The hunched shoulders, the nervous look, the fear of missing!!!
Great goal kickers thought of one thing when going back
And that is
Here’s another goal for Llordo, Plugger, Dunstall, Fevola, Brown, Walker, Hudson, McKenna, J Riewoldt, Hawkins
You can tell the nervous ones
Richardson, Riewoldt, Cloke, Daniher, King, Naughton
They don’t believe in their technique and it falls apart under pressure

Re: Max King
Membrey missed 2 easier set shots yesterday than King did, he's lucky the spotlight isn't on him, his goalkicking is a bigger worry IMO, was once very reliable.

Re: Max King
Yes
He’s 22
And been kicking a ball for the best part of 12 years
That is hours an hours of kicking 10s of thousands of kicks using his current technique he has to change
Harder than learning a new skill, is unlearning a poor technique.
It is a bit easier because set shot goal kicking is almost a closed skill, but under pressure one will invariably revert.
Personally I don’t think his technique is to bad, kicks it a bit soft (like a soft 5 iron) and cuts across it a bit.
More so I think he is fragile mentally

Your deleting skills are worse than Max King's ability to nail set shots. At least he gets some of them.
Just click on the white X in the little read box at top right of your post.
