If Hannebery comes in...
Back pocket?
What was it that Tim Watson used to say when he infuriatingly played our best aging mid Nathan Burke there over and over again?

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
Burke played the first 4 seasons of his career as a small defender or winger
He moved into the centre thereafter
Perhaps Watson wanted to develop others? Burke was 30 when Watson took over

If Hannebery comes in it means our cunning plan has come together because it's September and we've made it to the finals...push all ya chips in.

I’d like him to play next year on FA money
Games incentive trigger in his base rookie contract
He owes us
I’d like to get at least one good season for 4M

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
For what it is worth Watson said that by playing Burke in the back pocket we could extend his career for a couple of years. Not sure if Burkey agreed! And whenever a game was close to being out of reach at half time Tim would move Burke back into the centre and we would win clearance after clearance and peg the score back. Then at 3/4 time Burke would be in the back pocket again, we would get rolled in the centre over and over and lose by 6 or 7 goals.
This happened week after week. Same pattern. Not sure if anyone remembers?
Have a feeling from his body language Nathan preferred winning a game rather than extending his career.
But Dr Watson's idea made me think of Hannebery.

Hanneberry should play this week and then be retire
St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
It will be 2023 next year, not 2016!
What part of him not being able to get on the park consistently in the last 4 seasons makes you think her is worth wasting a spot on the list in 2023?
Might as well retain Kent
Sometimes investments don't pay off, so take your punishment and wear the loss.
Let's bank the capital loss and invest it in a young rookie, not a broken down has been.
The rookie may well never play a game, but also may be the next Wilkie, Sinclair or Marshall.
We know what we get with Hannebery, a broken down has been who has strung 15 rank average games together over the past 4 years.
F#ck him off for god sake!

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
Why don’t we play him now and see what we get in return
Not his biggest fan but it’s hardly worth building him now is it?
If he’s going to provide any value, it needs to be now to get us to September.
Reality is he could tweak a calf at any time… may as well be vs the Hawks as opposed to at Sandy or at training

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
f****** hope so. He has been nearly the best Sandy player, if not the best, in his two games showing that he has lost little of his ability despite his injuries and long layoff.

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
Good idea. He'd be more likely to impact as a rookie, than a random late pick and if he stays fit, he takes our midfield up a level. Aside from Steele, he's better (based on form last time he played)) than anyone currently in there. And he does owes us.

If he has got his body right, finally.
He could have a couple of quality years for us.
He is a cut above all of our mids except Steele.

Re: If Hannebery comes in...
Can’t agree Teffers.
A rookie spot on the list to a kid who might be the next Wilkie, Sinclair, Hayes or Marshall (or might be a bust Bust) or a broken down has been who has not played consistent football since 2017?
15 butt average games in four seasons doesn’t warrant anything but a hand shake on the way out.
Had a crack, tried his guts out to get on the park, it’s failed dismally, was let down by his body, move on!
