We should take this up before North take itSunnyErnie wrote: ↑Sun 19 Jun 2022 5:42pm .....we should take it. The only thing we would lose is the St Kilda name. So what? We don't represent St Kilda anymore. We are the Saints and if we have one home base in Moorabbin and one home base in Tasmania there is nothing but positives to be had. $20Mill cash injection, draft concessions for 3 years, 11 home games in Melbourne and 11 home games in Tasmania. The only trade off is we would be called Tasmania Saints. I can live with that. The positives far outweigh the negatives. We would become one of the biggest clubs in the league.
If it ever comes to a vote I will be voting in the affirmative.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Andrew Bassat
I don't agree that the board needs to get torched.
That's Agent Orange-type defoliation.
The Football Dept needs a bloody independent review, from a group totally unconnected to the club, and with no AFL influence.
And kick out Rath, Roughy, McGlynn.
There also needs to be a commitment to dropping guys who won't follow team rules and are out of form

Geoff Walsh will be looking for a relatively short, well paying gig shortly.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 20 Jul 2022 10:39pm The Football Dept needs a bloody independent review, from a group totally unconnected to the club, and with no AFL influence.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Andrew Bassat
CEO transition handled smoothly, no radical new ideas person to upset status quo . Good. And
We already have a model:
renew failing coach;
bring in a seasoned campaigner as Coach B. No implied threat Brett;
Replace current assistants bar Cory Enright ;
Buy a big name player;
Create a new slogan, say, " it's always darkest before dawn".
Wilkie co-captain and media face;
Clear out under performing mercenaries, recruit from the draft -they are not yet cynical and dare to dream about playing finals.
That will keep us in our boxes for a couple more years.
And it goes without saying, Rath goes with the t shirt gift that reads "lies, damn lies and statistics."
Or we could just appoint Cory coach now, save time and money.

Re: Andrew Bassat
So what is the main problem with David Rath, other than people don't really understand his role and the property steward said Rath has too much influence.

Any name change has to get at least 75% of members to vote yes for it to happen thats in the constitution of the club so they can play in Tassie all they like but its going to be as the St Kilda Football clubSunnyErnie wrote: ↑Sun 19 Jun 2022 5:42pm .....we should take it. I’d be trying to change the clubs image - STKFC is not a name to be proud of

Re: Eddie is a man of vision and superior intellect
Tasmania is spilt into 2 camps- 2 separate regions.
There's internal rivalry.
Replanting any team into that state will upset both factions, as it's an obvious insult to them.
GWS was created in a vacuum of Aussie Rules, the local rugby folk got a bit miffed but figured GWS won't damage their brand.
Tassie folk are proudly anti-mainland and parochial.
Giving them a failing team is a slap in the face for them, as it says 'you're not good enough to deserve your own team, we'll give you a reject'.

Pretty much sums them up. Tasmanians first. Mainlanders suck...to them.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 22 Jul 2022 2:00pm Tasmania is spilt into 2 camps- 2 separate regions.

The apples they send to the mainland are counted as exports.

Not sure that whole Tassie divide is applicable anymore like it once was . People have seemed to move on from that old chestnut.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 22 Jul 2022 2:00pm Tasmania is spilt into 2 camps- 2 separate regions.

Re: Eddie is a man of vision and superior intellect
Born in Melbourne.
Lived there till age of 34.
Moved to Perth. Been in Sleepy Hollow for several years. A long time.
My knowledge of Tassie is based on folks who had lived there for a while.
Wikipedia reckons the North/South rivalry is overstated and not really evident these days.
There's a funny entry about 'The Flannel Curtain' or 'Latte Line' , not about Tassie, but Hobart.
Southern Hobart is supposed to be all toffs, while northern suburbs are wife-beaters (tank tops) and flannel shirts
