Highmore seems to read the play and ball magnificently for a younger player. So should be utilised as a intercept marker.

My ideal Ins/outs
Ins: DMac, Highmore, Lienert,
Outs: Hunter, Howard, Wood
No way Wood can be dropped. our best 2 way runner and sacrificer we have. Doesn't get a heap and this is why many go - no good drop him- but look how we went when him and Mckenzie's selflessness wasn't there.

Out: Clark, Howard
In; Joyce
retains the structure we have used all year

Is Wood like one of those players that Ro$$ Lyin was keen on?
Robert Eddy, etc

I'd hope other skilled players were told to run harder- if most of them upped their running 10% then we wouldn't need him?

If McKenzie isn't ready to come in, Lienert would be a good like-for-like substitute.
Lienert's disposal efficiency is 80% plus. He is a beautiful kick.
I don't think Lienert's been given enough opportunity (7 games) or game time (he is averaging only 56% game time).

I think Wood has been handy for us this year.

Wood better than Eddy and at his size an asset that is strong overhead and has realised this is his way to play afl.
IF some more skilled players choose to run harder ( rather than told to) they would be A graders and not potential A graders.

So big Tabby trained yesterday…He’s 29, hamstring dodgy
If they pick him, will he play balls to the wall?

Freo are trying to scare us with Fyfe..
Could it be the game, he comes back to the midfield?

And then what?

Gresh will squash him.

Ya think Freo didn’t notice how Sydney suppressed Sincs? They’ll try it too.

And they’ll try to stop the whole Hill-Sincs springboard thingo.

They have a few cards up their sleeves.

St Kilda?
What will be our mental state? Calm and cool, but steely and resolved ..I hope!

I like Joyce.

Two decent defenders come in for Clark and Howard. Funny how it took for a medical substitution for Highmore to prove that he’s an AFL standard defender. It was terrific to see him make the most of that opportunity last Friday. Would be great if Darragh Joyce stepped up to the plate as well.

Freo’s record at Docklands is terrible. This is a must win if we are to keep our finals chances alive. Then again, almost all of our remaining home and away season games are must wins now.

Samurai,
Your comment sounded so incredulous, minus my reading glasses, I thought you wrote “we only lost because of tanning lotion”…

Brain jumped into 2020 Queensland bubble.

I don’t think the ‘heavy training’ thing is meant to include being thrashed twice and blowing our chance for finals.

In that case, we lost those games because of massive miscalculations in the ‘Football Department’.

I get to training every main session and there’s been zero evidence of heavy training loads.
We’re simply not in a position to risk it with no guarantee playing finals.

Must win. Or season over

Tigers, Sydney and Collingwood all have easy draws
Because of the Saints percentage we need to win one more game than one of those teams to make the 8.

Drop this one and they cant make it

Essentially win this game and the Sydney game Round 23 will be the decision maker whether Saints or Swans make the 8

Playing Cats at GMHBA is like the Aust soccer team playing Brazil or Italy. No chance of winning.

What goes round comes round.
Last year we cruelled Freo's chances, sans Max.
Now they have the chance to return the favour
We have the chance to show we can turn up in a crunch game that has both teams evenly matched. Wouldn't that be nice.
Probably not a valid position but I am going to take our performance - win or lose - as an indicator of whether the players are supportive of Ratts extension and see it as a platform to improve, or not. Or do they see the prize in terms of extended contracts not a high ladder position and finals.
Job done? Job starting?

No, just a rumour in the media. I have since heard second hand that that rumour is probably false.

After 1995 Fremantle have only beaten us in Melbourne twice.

That is exactly like our record at KP Geelong.
