Early injury news on Ch7

Post: # 1964863Post skeptic »

Howard set for a scope, maybe a week or 2, not as bad as first thought. Damaged his meniscus, not the ACL.

Early sense on Clark is not too serious. Might be cleared to play, going to hospital to be checked out but may have escaped injury

Apparently Hannerbery is back

Nasty
Probably won't be back for a while
And after a remodel we may not recognise him

Might look like a boxer the next time we see him.

Hope he's already got a partner.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Howard: cartilage repair - arthroscope is anything up to 6 weeks recovered (according to Dr Google)

Clark - compound fracture of the nose 2-4 weeks. Gees he is unlucky, he cant take a trick taken out by a team mate.

News Flash: Hannebery said in the rooms to Brian Taylor that he will play next week??

A compound fracture is when the bone breaks the skin.
A multiple fracture is different.

Hannebery will play next week in the VFL if he can survive a full week of training.
No hope.

Howard
A return date for the former Port Adelaide backman is unclear at this stage, but most players require at least a month to recover from this type of surgery.

Clark
Clark has undergone surgery to repair the broken nose he suffered on Friday night and is set to miss at least a couple of weeks, with a clearer timeline to be released next week.

With Howard out for some time, it will be interesting to see if we leave Highmore in or bring in Joyce? TBH I think Battle is a better full back option than all of them. IMO he is a better one on one player than Howard even given his lack of height. I see Battle playing the the Tom McCartin/Tom Clurey role and leave Highmore in to play an intercept role.

I’d love to keep Highmore in think he’s quality
Even in limited gane time last night on replay he didn’t done good things
Give him a few games to get the pace of AFL abd look out
Must keep

IMO Highmore is not a KPP but a very handy intercept marking type so maybe we might have to look at Joyce as the "gorilla " handler especially against the bigger bodied forwards

How the hell did Howard find his way back onto the ground in the 3rd quarter after the injury in the 2nd quarter? They had 30 minutes to test it out and figured he was fine??

Maybe but I like Jimmy hard as a cats head, pretty good disposal most of time so unsure how we restructure with out Dougs . His Hight & reach are hard to replace & Battle is already punching out of his weight division & doing a great job so we can't really have another under sized defender trying to match it with the big boys IMO . Joyce might just take the opportunity to show us what he can do , wait & see I'm not a selector

I’d find a home for Highmore somewhere or he’ll walk
We all though Hind couldn’t play another position…
I’m hoping they’re thinking through that

Logical for sure don't know about simple . I think a lot of people under estimate Howard yeah he makes some ordinary decisions at times but pretty hard to replace a bloke who is almost 200 Cm's & pretty agile .Not all doom & gloom a couple of blokes get an opportunity to show us what they have offer.

Don't get me wrong IMO Highmore is definitely a keeper . We just need to see where he fits in the big picture

I'd play Joyce against teams with a 200cm forward and back in the Wilkie/Battle/Highmore combo against teams with a smaller forward line.

Most sides have 1 big unit some 2
I think we’ll need Joyce
Don’t mind trying Highmore for Clark for a spell to see how that works

Who plays against Aaron Naughton?
I think Wilkie might not be a good fit

Joyce is a good , tight checking FB back up, of course he comes in for Howard.

Highmore a better intercept mark and defender than Clark.

Good depth, may as well use it.
