Which ones were the Umpires, i didn't notice them.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Inexcusable the free against Butler and the non fifty against McKay.
In fact just blatant cheating.

Non fifty against McKay?

When Highmore marked it and as he went to take his kick McKay ran in and tackled him.
Clear 50 every game ever.

Tackled Highmore after a mark before play on was called - Umpire's response - no you cant do that - reset the play - the commentators said it would have to have been either holding the ball or 50 - cant be a reset

I think players should give up in protest if the free kick count is heavily weighted against us
They should concede the 4 premiership points and just walk off at half time
Actually...Why bother trying at all after quarter time ....really? Seriously...It's not fair...I want my mummy

Problem is, the AwFL via 'Kray Bro No 2' has 'empowered' a bunch of inconseqential nobodies as if they sit in judgement on a court.
Clearly, the AwFL is struggling with umpiring numbers, particularly at lower league levels.
Which, unsurprisingly, leaves a number of those elevated ahead of their capability getting way ahead of themselves - it's far from unusual.
But, fork me, ya'd reckon they could muster something better than that s**t dished up tonight as 'fair and reasonable'.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
Watching the replay we actually only received 8 frees for the entire game.
In the first quarter Sinclair took a courageous mark which the umpire awarded to him for the high hit.
Add our only free in the third after Sinclair took another mark and the umpire gave Clark a holding free.
That’s less than twice a quarter the umpire gave us the football.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
Umpiring was OK. I saw about 4 mistakes- the Dan Butler decision (which should have been play on since Dan was playing for the free), the free to Charlie Curnow in the last (he had prior op and was held), and two missed frees to Harry McKay, which were right in front.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
Problem is rule says umpire has to signal play on before you tackle, so it has to be 50
Doesn’t matter what it looks like that’s the rule and it’s that way for a reason.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
Disgraceful umpiring
21-9 it doesn’t need to be even but gee late in game some stupid decisions
I think the club needs to at least let HQ know we are concerned and monitor it
Other clubs pick up the phone I hope we do
But being nice “good corporate citizens” I suspect we roll over

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
No it doesn't.
Here is the rule:
19.2 Where a field Umpire has awarded a Mark or Free Kick to a Player, or a Player is preparing
to bring or bringing the football back into play after a Behind is scored, a Fifty Metre
Penalty in favour of that Player will be awarded if the field Umpire is of the opinion that
any Player or Official from the opposing Team:
(a) has moved off The Mark;
(b) when in the immediate contest, unreasonably holds a Player after that
Player has Marked the football or been awarded a Free Kick;
(c) when not in the immediate contest, holds a Player after that Player has Marked
the football or been awarded a Free Kick;
(d) enters or does not make every endeavour to immediately vacate the Protected
Area, except when the Player is accompanying or following within two metres
of their opponent;
(e) has not returned the football directly and on the full to the Player awarded the
Mark or Free Kick;
(f) engages in any conduct which delays or impedes the play; or
(g) engages in any other conduct for which a Free Kick would ordinarily be awarded.
So the timing relates to when the umpire is "of the opinion" not when the umpire calls it - which can be a second after it.
In the case of the Highmore decision, part (d) applied and the umpire reset the situation, because he had not cleared the area with Harry McKay being too close.
Also, the quarter ends when any one of the three field umpires hears the siren, not when it is signalled.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
I dont care if Highmore danced around - pulled down his bloomers and hatched the football - The current interpretation is it is not play on until the umpire calls it - HE DID NOT

So - Part C does not apply - talk about selective reading - 50 EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK
Especially considering that they ping people for being 9 metres away from the person with the ball due to the protected zone

I am not sure if the maggots are corrupt, play favorites, have teams they despise or are just plain incompetent.
In the case of maggot Foot, I would say all four are applicable.

Re: As bad an umpiring performance you’ll see.
We were in front for most of the game and came home strongly to win- proves that umpiring doesn't really make a lot of difference. I only saw a couple of dud decisions, but didn't notice the umps much. The previous week against the Swans- yes the umpiring was as bad as our effort.

The club will definitely be talking to the umpires this week. They just don’t do it through the media like the bigger clubs do.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 02 Jul 2022 9:48am Disgraceful umpiring

He must IMMEDIATELY clear the area and wait for the umpire to call play on.
Only exception is if the umpire calls play on after the mark.
Which he did not.
