Votes v Blues

Post: # 1964810Post George27 »

So proud of that. Contributors everywhere .

5. Jack Sinclair . Again.

4. Tim Membrey . Crucial goals.

3. Rowan Marshall .

2. Jack Steele. All the midfielders did well, Jack the best of them.

1. Paddy Ryder. Ageless.

Could have named another 10 of them. Kudos to Marcus W and NWM, who are really developing.

I think you’ve nailed it... yet it seems a tragedy to leave Hill off the list. And Ross. And Battle punching above his weight... and Highmore coming on and immediately being on. And Gresh was good + Wilkie was Wilkie.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Ya wanna know what the 'voting order' should be? Ya note what Luke Hodge said about Jack Steele after the game.

Watching the game, I thought Steeley had set himself the task of besting Cripps where it counted. Golly gee, it worked.

But, I didn't expect to hear one of the greatest of all time, in Hodge, say Steeley is 'the best I've seen at...' being just like me'.

Jack Steele's a giant (not Giant) - he f**ked Carlton by ensuring Cripps didn't spit out the front of centre bounces at will. He reduced Cripps to racking up cheap handballs wide at half back.

One of the finest skipper's games I've seen in ages.

But, to have Hodge say what he said afterwards, is the real cream on the appreciation cake of how good Steele is - no-one like him, and we are privileged to have him as skipper.

Yeah nah...

Alan Richardson might still be a bit unsure.
He also said Jack Steele "lowered his colours" against Patrick Cripps, who was arguably best on ground with 35 disposals and 10 clearances, but was pleased he "battled manfully" to win 33 disposals of his own in the head-to-head battle.

Yeah, I was surprised at Hodge's comments.
He's seen lots of footy over the years, so I have to respect his opinion on Steele.
I personally look at players like Lachie Neale and Scott Pendlebury as being super elite.
I have Steele close to them, but to hear Hodge say Steele is the best and hardest worker he's ever seen 🤩

The commentators either on Fox or Channel 7 made some reference to the way the boys entered the arena tonight

Did any one hear it?

It was along the lines of 'head down - bum up - and all the Saints players have sprinted out of the race'

Who ever said it, also commented that they liked it and it had a feel of 'no fuss - let's get on with the business of winning'

That's Jack Steele in a nut shell  :D
