Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
I love how deGoey is a scumbag woman defiler....but two consenting adults can do unimaginable things to each other onscreen and it's OKAY THEY'RE CONSENTING.
I think he's a jerk.
But his friend said it was a game, they were having fun and only had three drinks each and it was not intended to be a media dissertation. But yet all I've heard from people on this forum is how deplorable his latest activity is....so which is it?
Two consenting adults CAN do whatever they chose or not?
Of course there's timing, understanding you're likely to be filmed and not acting a twat, etc. But still how is it any of mine if they both agree and chose this activity?
I do not care and don't consider it an issue.
New York Police did charge him and footage shown wasn't great. He allegedly made advances and then got handsy to which a knight in shining armour protested and he was viciously popped in the nose by dG.
Then magically after all this furore, a mobile phone video appears showing him dancing with her, her arms around his waist inside his open dressing gown (nice outfit moron) and then the boyfriend grabs his arms and pulls him back to which he punches the guy.....all charges dropped and he pays the guy a small sorry fund....how about not getting in this situation?
He's a idiot in his choices. But can he change? Will he? Why do the Pies not release this info? Is it because you can't beat the Woke Police?
Saints are as Woke fearful as they get so I reckon we must steer clear of this lad.
I want to know who he trusts, listens to, is guided by ....can this guy be reached in his noggin? Can someone effectively show him he can certainly party & enjoy his life the way he wants as long as he does it privately, and with care to not make silly school days type choices. He needs a minder to guide him.
Gardiner got one from Saints and it changed his outlook.

Can’t stand the guy and think he is grossly overrated as a player. Classic downhill skier. Dominates against the poorer teams and goes missing too often. Not what we need.

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
That’s incorrect
He’s a bull midfielder/forward which is the most in vogue player in footy atm
We have plenty of accumulators like Crouch, Ross, Steele
We need a midfield offensive weapon
Our starting inside Midfield vs Sydney
Crouch, Steele, Ross
A lot of sameness their
My preference
Steele, rotating with DeGoey forward
Crouch rotating with Ross interchange
Jones rotating with Gresham Forward
We need more speed from stoppage
Billings the other forward
King as a higher forward, Membrey as a mid sized forward
And a bear in the square forward/Ruckman

I remain of the view that, if wants to come to us, we’d be insane not to take him.
Onfield, he’s exactly the player we need to round out our lineup. You couldn’t design a better model.
Yes he’s trouble yada yada yada. I reckon he’ll be playing AFL for a team somewhere next year. If not us, we’re missing out.

Moreover, while we have quite a few good players, we’ve not got many who can tear a game apart. King on his day. Hill occasionally (but he struggles when he’s tagged). Higgins sometimes. One day Gresham and Clark I hope, but not yet.
de Goey can tear it up quite frequently. And when he’s on, he’s hard to stop.

Being somewhat risk adverse my opinion changes depending on the hour.meher baba wrote: ↑Mon 27 Jun 2022 2:30pm Moreover, while we have quite a few good players, we’ve not got many who can tear a game apart. An observation is, how much more of a silver platter could one realistically hope for:
- Experienced (check)
- Elite (check)
- Match winner in the mould we need (check)
- Can afford to fit him into the team right now, timing I guess (check)
- Not chronically injured (check)
- Comes as an FA (check)
So behaviour is the issue. Realistically, who is the magical player leaving their club as an FA that’s perfect in every way and the club was willing to let them go?
Don’t get me wrong... I want that player too but I’m not sure they exist.

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
Correct. Realistically, just about the only grounds for an A grade player to leave a prestigious Melbourne club for a less glamorous one like ours are going to relate to interpersonal and/or behavioural issues. And highly sought after players moving interstate - Dangerfield, Cameron, Shiel, etc - are also most likely to go to a glamour club. A lot whinge on here about how much we have spent on Hill, but I reckon we were extremely lucky to get him.skeptic wrote: ↑Mon 27 Jun 2022 2:56pmBeing somewhat risk adverse my opinion changes depending on the hour.meher baba wrote: ↑Mon 27 Jun 2022 2:30pm Moreover, while we have quite a few good players, we’ve not got many who can tear a game apart. If we can get de Goey, it will be a bit of a coup for the club. Of course with lots of risks. But no risk no reward.

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
We should be concentrating on drafting dynamic, talented young midfielders.
How about we do that for once?
We need to do that every year for the next ten years, to make up for continually overlooking them over the last 10 years ...
and we should defintely stop going after recycled midfielders.

You can do both with free agency.
Focussing purely on the draft doesn't solve the immediate needs.
Teams like Geelong and Richmond stay competitive because the have a good blend of drafting and trading.

There are no shortcuts ... we can't keep overlooking highly ranked young midfielders year after year in the draft.
When did we last draft one?

2021 - NWM, Owens & Windhager, plus Peris will surprise in a year or two.
I agree with LLS we need a balanced approach, we need to attract free agents or trade in quality players aswell as nailing the draft. You cant put all your chips on recruiting kids - look what is going on with North.
Having said that Im still against bringing Jordan De Goey into the club.

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
We had opportunities to get the highest ranked young midfielders, over the years in the draft ... the creme de la creme ... and completely overooked/ignored them.
We have picked enough recycled midfielders ... we have had our fill ... high time to concentrate on the young midfielders in the draft, I reckon.
Melbourne's topline midfielders such as Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, etc ... were all top 5 draft picks.
Bontompelli was pick 4. The Bulldogs also landed Bailey Smith ... pick 7.
We were way, way overdue to draft our first one. And NWM was pick 11.

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
Spot on Skeptic, I know it's always hard to know what is factual and truthful in this day and age, however part of me thinks the Pies have felt pressured, almost cornered into having to let him go and I actually think he's be wronged based on the woman involved said "nothing to see". I always like a reference point if possible when thinking about these types of things and I remember being young and having similar respectful and fun loving interactions with girls that would have horrified our parents. The hijacking of our morals by the corporate world has gone too far in my mind and DeGoey's is being unfairly treated.skeptic wrote: ↑Mon 27 Jun 2022 2:56pmBeing somewhat risk adverse my opinion changes depending on the hour.meher baba wrote: ↑Mon 27 Jun 2022 2:30pm Moreover, while we have quite a few good players, we’ve not got many who can tear a game apart. If Hanna's salary fully covers De Goey, and there are special clauses to protect us ... then okay.

From a Pies supporter on the BF Trades thread (take it how you like) -
Saints offering 800k a year on a 5 year deal. Biggest deal on the table for him at the moment.

Why would Jordon leave the Pies? Lot of emotional ties, fans love him, they can pay him and protect him.
Why would we risk getting burned again so soon after Dan H.
I doubt the BF rumour. But it is tantalising.
