He moved Howard off Buddy after the 1 quarter, which was at least something…

So we could save some money and not have a coach, as they don't do much in professional sport anyway.B.M wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:04pm When are we going to learn
The coach ISNT the panacea to everything
In fact, it’s well down the list
We just want something or someone to blame
And if he were Al Clarkson coached we’d be great
I’ll give you the drum
This list is 8-12th
Get it in your heads!!! Regardless of who is fkn coach

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
for all the bemoaning and outright vitriol towards our players, just have a think - the team that smashed us had two of our discards playing pivotal roles for them.
yes they're running around with no confidence but it isn't our players. we haven't by some horrid quirk of fate managed to recruit all the worst players in the comp. it's our coaching and management, and has been for some time. we have no system on field, which is hammering the players confidence and belief in their ability, as indivdiuals and as a team, and we are not developing a winning mentality in our players. there's no hard edge there. those complaining about our 'woke' culture aren't completely off the mark - our focus should be on winning games, first and foremost, not creating a team of positive role models. that stuff has its place for sure - but develop a winning culture first, then you can afford the luxury of playing for causes and change. until then its just noise distracting from the main event. a footy field is not the place for empathy and graciousness. 'if it bleeds we can cuddle it' won't win games.

How many
Turnovers
Dropped marks
Poor kicks
Missed tackles
Fumbles
From the coaches tonight?
Maybe Ratts should pull the boots on?!

Think about it emotions are what we live for Negative or positive they are still emotions
We have been blessed with most incredible amount of negative emotions

We’re still 2- 4 years away from fixing the Trout era. Jones and Butler and the other one dimensional players we’ve picked up are short term fixes only. I’m sure we know that. We need a few more years of high end drafting and recruiting to turn the ship.
The coaching, admin and corporate stuff is not the problem.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
Oh FFS stop with the inane “it’s not the coach”
We know the list isn’t great but the fact (as commentators noted also tonight) that there is NO system, no game plan and certainly no ability to transition the ball into forward 50 - is the job of the coach to instill that system
We are not Melbourne list wise but we are better than 2 goals in a half of football FFS
Get your head out of your anus
Fish rots from the head and Ratten match day and selection has been poor
He’s another beige Richo
And IF this club does not sound out Clarkson the Board are derelict in their duty and should resign

Looks like I picked the wrong time to start the thread.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
Are we saying the Ratten isn’t ‘demanding’ high levels of performance
BTW
If a coach came up to me and demanded I perform
I would think he was a d**khead!
I’d go out and play as good as I could, because as a footballer that’s what you do?!
You don’t need some prick to tell me to do that

The coach needs to hold the players accountable.
If they don’t respect him then one of them needs to go.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
bm you aren't wrong on the players performance but you seem to completely overlook the implications on a player of poor coaching and poor player management. this belief that a coach isn't that important is simply wrong. its not even worthy of a debate. club management and culture can likewise have a massive effect on the ability of a coach to meet his own potential and get the most out of the players. at the moment ratten isn't getting his players up, the game plan is all over the place, and yes the rot started above him and well before him, but the players aren't the main issue.

Are you saying a coach is not responsible after 3 years for instilling a recognisable game plan???B.M wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:26pm Are we saying the Ratten isn’t ‘demanding’ high levels of performance

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
Players giving up is interesting, King is a surrender merchant.
In my whole time of supporting the club I don't think I have ever seen one of our players give up and walk around on a football field acting like a spoilt child and openly sulk with his shoulders so sunken they are almost dragging on the ground. Kingy won't be playing seniors next week that much is easy to conclude.

Coaches just move magnets on boards and witches hats at training
Otherwise their job is to stand around
Really one must ask - why have a coach ?
Just let the players turn up, do it all themselves right??
It’s not even worthy of discussion it’s so obvious
Ratten isn’t up to it

He’ll walk around fine at Gold Coast with his brother and if he’s smart he’d get out nowVortex wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:38pm Players giving up is interesting, King is a surrender merchant.

Or
Go to Sydney after Buddy , play under a cia h whose team demand forwards to lead, teach them that game style and hit them on the chest
He’d kick 100
He won’t learn a thing under “bomb it long Brett” at Saints that’s for sure

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 15 2022
Our list is not that bad not elite but better than what we have produced in the last 2 weeks. IMO its all above the shoulders thats where a couch does his work , convince the blokes on the park to give it a red hot crack & if you do that you are a big chance of winning but a lot of our player didn't do that hence we were absolutely owned by a team that did . Yeah they have a better team but their effort was way better than our's IMO

Yeah ball coming in has serious issues but so does King. He'll get a chance to work through his issues at Sandy next week. Giving up is something that has always been punished with the axe. You'd expect he'll be apologising to his team mates also.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:41pmHe’ll walk around fine at Gold Coast with his brother and if he’s smart he’d get out nowVortex wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:38pm Players giving up is interesting, King is a surrender merchant.

St Kilda would be the organisation to prove Alistair Clarkson can’t coach. The most pathetic still extant team in the history of professional sport.
Why blame individuals?
