Well, they will be lacking in the ruck department with Ladhams getting rubbed out. Has Hickey been much chop for them lately?SaintPav wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jun 2022 11:57pmThat’s what I’m hoping.Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jun 2022 5:09pm We almost rolled Sydney at the SCG last year; and we’d had our backs to wall after that horror loss to Adelaide up in Cairns. I won’t be writing us off yet. Last Friday’s game could actually work as a wake up call to the team. There is plenty of resilience there. Anyway, we’ll see!
I’d expect some sort of bounce back like we had in the 3rd quarter.
South will be looking to do the same.
Whether it’s enough to pull off a victory is another matter.

I think the season was over after the loss to Port. Such a costly loss.

I won’t be there this time. Call me a pea-heart, but I’ve witnessed far too many big losses at the SCG.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 21 Jun 2022 3:02pmI'll be there as well Laurie. We can sit on the Jack Billings Wing
Being in Melbourne for last Friday’s debacle was bad enough.

Was that the infamous Missy Higgins game where he snagged 1.6 and broke the hearts of 49k Saints members?Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jun 2022 5:09pm We almost rolled Sydney at the SCG last year; and we’d had our backs to wall after that horror loss to Adelaide up in Cairns. Re: We’ll beat sydney
Might have a chance if Max starts playing a bit physically more like he really wants the front position and wants the ball- still plays too passive and we need to move him up around half forward and let Membrey play deep forward where he does best. Midfield need to own the contest from the first bounce- looking very fragile recently.

I think you're right spert, Max King is far too passive and needs to lead when the ball is heading his way. I'd get him to study highlights footage of the strategies employed by Tom Lynch (Richmond) and Jeremy Cameron (Geelong), both very tall forwards, to be successful. With King attracting all the attention from opposing defenders there are golden opportunities for Tim Membrey, Cooper Sharman and Ryder/Marshall to win the ball.
Subject to the size of the opposition defenders, should always play 3 tall forwards when you've got a gun FF.

Re: We’ll beat sydney
We are the bosses of the SCG...
Swans can suck on...what ever they suck on...
We beat Sydney there by one point in 2009
And we beat them by 2 points in in 2006
(We've never won any other)
So how about that Swans?
Suck on them lemons.
BUT
Mr Steele is back..
And the Sainters are angry...
Are they not?

Actually I don't think they are. Hope I'm wrong. I think they are spent. Out of ideas. Injuries have cruelled consistent team composition. Several top players have not come back to anywhere near their previous form after serious injury. Paddy seems worn out. Goodness knows what the situation is with Brad H. Steele seems the only one that remotely looks like an inspirational leader and it will be another season before the few promising youngsters develop well or not and it may be that will depend on individual's strength of mind. When you have to pick Butler because the next best player on the list is a worse choice a team is in big trouble. It seems we are at saving the furniture stage now. Want to be wrong but the signs are not too good.

Re: We’ll beat sydney
I’m hoping Hill out makes us less predictable..
We need to respond like Melbourne did last night.
Will it happen?
Probably not because we have been on a downward trajectory for a few weeks.

Re: We’ll beat sydney
Prior to Hill and Paddy not being available for selection- Ratts had the opportunity to select arguably his strongest side (ON PAPER), omitting Higgins and replacing him with Sharman has got a risky feel to it but this seems to be the way Ratts is rolling with regards to selection.
Will we beat Sydney - you'd think not - but we've won the unexpected a couple of times this year so hang onto your hat.

How did Melbourne go last night after losing three in a row? I'm with you.Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jun 2022 5:09pm We almost rolled Sydney at the SCG last year; and we’d had our backs to wall after that horror loss to Adelaide up in Cairns. Re: We’ll beat sydney
Thanks for reminding me. I must go buy a Pride guernsey to put in my new wardrobe. I'll hang it alongside my special Spud's woolen jumper and my Indigenous Round(s) one, which is next to my 2022 clash jumper and my Maddy Reiwoldt's Vision jumper.....Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 1:34pm Hey Guys - Sorry to burst your bubbles - It is a PRIDE game - we will show No Pride for the Jumper and Squib this game - just like we did last week for Spud's Game

Bingo. Our players are struggling because they do not recognize the good old red, white and black with the crest on the left breast.

Re: We’ll beat sydney
Completely illogically I have a feeling you are correct.
We were abysmal last week and it was an effort not skill thing. I actually think Hill out at the SCG being a smaller ground hurts less than say MCG or Marvel. Same for McKenzie.
Both poor performances this year - Collingwood and Melbourne we have bounced back the next week. Unfortunately Sydney played a poor half also last week which will make it tougher but bar 10 minutes we were rubbish.
Completely illogical
