Re: Team v Swans
Gee I'm loving selection night this year, it's rarely predictable which is a credit to Ratts and the confidence in his risk taking which has already paid huge dividends in 2022, and so may it continue this weekend.

The sub is considered to be in the team so there’s always one more out than in. But it did take me a while to realise Windhager is playing.SaintPav wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022 10:39pmAre you missing one in?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022 7:21pm In Steele, Sharman

Re: Team v Swans
Dan Butler has to have pictures of Ratten ffs he was woeful last week - soft little tiggy pressure and headless chook with the ball
I actually think on a small ground, tighter confines ball coming out of the middle quick a Jack Higgins out the back gives you far more…..
Selection less than inspiring again

Yes I’m with you - do you think the club thinks Sharmans of any value with his pathetic 7 VFL touches or maybe just a typo??

We’ve lost the ruck contest 12/14 games this year not an issue in the slightest. The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022 9:33pm Can’t see us winning this game Unless Marshall plays a blinder we will lose the hit outs and the loss of hill ..not good

Selection was excellent this week. Would’ve had Higgins ahead of butler; but much of muchness; this is as close to the best 22 we’ve fielded all year. This is simply must win… lose and we’re out

Who is in?
Worrying signs for HIll.

Need another tall in to support Rowan and be a target from kick ins and provide a link to the forward line. Wood best suited I would think. Byrnes out

Re: Team v Swans
I wouldn't be surprised if he never fully got over his plantar fascia issue from last year which saw him miss a month or so after surgery. He hasn't looked anywhere near as mobile or agile as he did before that injury.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022 8:47pm This Marshall "on one leg" has ironically grown legs. He had a bad corkie which he's come through. He's just been horribly out of form. Surely we've learnt about playing injured players, we've just not learnt about playing out of form ones.
Good luck to the lads on Saturday night, we only ask they have a dip, not the roll over rubbish of last week.

The cupboard is bare so I suppose 7 touches gets you selected this week. Let's hope be can find his defensive game.

I think the selection would be due to his history against the Swans from last year.Vortex wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 6:28amThe cupboard is bare so I suppose 7 touches gets you selected this week. Let's hope be can find his defensive game.

As opposed to the stellar defensive efforts last week when Bombers walked the ball out of fwd 50 with ease?Vortex wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 6:28amThe cupboard is bare so I suppose 7 touches gets you selected this week. Let's hope be can find his defensive game.

Re: Team v Swans
If that was true and we need multiple goal scorers you’d argue why drop Higgins - yes he’s been “missy” previously against this mob but extremely dangerous also and averages nearly 2 goals a game?axcellence wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 6:37amI think the selection would be due to his history against the Swans from last year.Vortex wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 6:28amThe cupboard is bare so I suppose 7 touches gets you selected this week. Last week Higgins was ordinary (and yes defensively also) but still kicked 2 goals.
Our defensive fwd expert Dan Butler was also average last week and has managed just 1 goal in 6 games????
Better hope Sharman can lead/drag defenders away from King or we might struggle to score as Membrey been ordinary of late too.

What Hill, Ryder and Higgins aren't in the best 22? All of those players are good players and, if in form, are definitely best 22.Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 12:23am Selection was excellent this week. Re: Team v Swans
We need to improve our defensive game- especially the midfield and forwards by around 200% after the last game. The Essendon defence must have thought they won the lottery with such an easy job they had. How come Ratts fielded such an unmotivated team when we are trying to establish ourselves for finals?
I think the club has had one too many "long hard look at themselves" while Ratts has been coach.

Re: Team v Swans
That's why it's going to be interesting to see how Sharman goes. We've been really poor defensively in F50 and get scored on the turnover too easily.spert wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 8:46am We need to improve our defensive game- especially the midfield and forwards by around 200% after the last game. Higgins has lost his spot for being selfish and poor defensively preferring to run into space which is Sharman's one trick.

Re: Team v Swans
Love selection integrity is coming in based on what the coaches/team value (as opposed to us mugs in the stand).
Are we to guess Sharman plays second ruck ala Silvani? Wouldn't want to upset the back line by using Battle.
Marshall looked like he was running on 1 leg last week so obviously this has recovered as whatever Hickey took while at WC has made him a different footballer than he was at Stkilda, or WC for that matter.

I don't think so and neither does the club.
