Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
No No No , while not Andy Lovett has potential to be as bad a recruitment.
Has enormous ability and if ever got fit could easily be top 10 in the league, but at age 26 still hasn't, surrounded himself with yes people which says he doesn't like being told he is wrong, and would cost a lot of coin.
For that money you need to be getting not only a star player but also a clean skin that can help bring that amount and then some in the door with performance and sponsorship - he presents the opposite.
Rather use funds on Amon and keep existing young talent.

So
We don’t back our leadership and culture
Lethlean, Ratten, Steele
To get him on the right track?

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
The Collingwood fans I know would love to see the back of him. He is good one game in three and a star one in ten but he can have a magical moment. For $800K a year you want a consistent game changer or midfield dynamo not an inconsistent occasional star. Yes Hannebury was a mistake but that doesn't mean we should burn the cash we save on the next shiny thing particularly as the shine is more than a little tainted.

5 years no way
Gun footballer
structure the deal 3 year plus 2 if meets certain benchmarks
Would want to know about the strikes. How many is he already on
then do some real vetting about training standards.
Bali incident is an absolute storm about nothing.

Jordan De Goey;
A mixture of brawn and brains.
He has fought and punched in St Kilda.
He had claimed he was bitten by a dog in St Kilda.

His contract should include a clause where good performance is rewarded with bonus drink tickets and night club passes
He would win a brownlow

There is no problem with his training or footy for that matter
It’s his extra curricular activities that get him in the s***!

Walking out on Collingwood is an interesting move. Not what I would have advised but works for whichever club signs him.

Apart from Steele, our onfield leadership is weak as.
We are the most mentally brittle team in the comp. I’m struggling to see us managing him any better than Collingwood.
The only way it works is if JDG buys in and owns the change , like Dusty did at Richmond.
If he buys in, truly buys in, he would be worth the $800k pa

f*** Hannebery off and go all in, 5yr deal @ 650k with incentives and clauses.
He couldn’t expect to get 800k now, without some protection for the club

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
Controversial Collingwood star Jordan De Goey has been given personal leave by the AFL club, with no time frame set on his return.
Key points:
De Goey will "undertake further behavioural education" but has avoided any suspension
The Magpies have suspended contract negotiations with the troubled 26-year-old
De Goey was expected to front the media in coming days, but it is unclear if that will happen now

The only bloke I did put a line through
Andrew Lovett

Furthermore,
Since Finniss has been at Moorabbin, and St Kilda has morphed into the wokest team in the league; the team that aims to please all, the player collective that will bend over for any and every other club, it has done SFA on the field where it counts.
And that is the point of it all.

St Kilda (sans Gold Coast, GWS) - the league's biggest welfare recipient.
The league's co-dependence with gambling grows ever deeper and more entrenched.
St Kilda itself is a no gambling, no casino, no pokies team...

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
Surely by far the greatest risk in giving a big contract to any player (including De Goey) is the risk of long-term physical injury.
Then there's also the risk of mental health problems developing, depression, addiction.
And then there's the risk that they'll punch or grab someone while out in a nightclub (or similar).
Jordan may be at a slightly more elevated risk for the last one here, but at least you can put caveats in a contract for that (unlike the rest). Also unlike the rest, the risk of occurrence tends to reduce as the player matures.
The Bali thing could be the perfect storm in a teacup. Firstly, it was absolutely nothing. Secondly, it shows to him that his card is stamped at the filth, and he needs a fresh start (which he does). Thirdly, it gives us the chance to nab him with the justification for a heavily conditioned contract.
Of course he'd have to demonstrate and prove he's prepared to buy in, fly right, repay the faith, etc.
But it'd all be worth it just for the first time we pumped the filth with him onboard.

Explain to me who and how de gooey is better than anyone in our current midfield? Which is not saying much given our current midfield is terrible

1) Flying out to Bali in the bye week?
2) Enjoying beers from time to time?
3) Partying in the off-season?

Re: De Goey 5 year deal 800 a year.!!
800 a year, that less than the minimum wage.
Gee I think some illiterate Indian laborers may have been paid that in Saudi Arabia but it is not a living wage in Australia.
If I were De Goey I would try for 800k
