Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
Reality check fact is we a really a bottom four side that has been playing above their weight, time for changes a lot of blokes out there tonight struggle with the basic skills and are not likely to change now. The selectors should have no trouble finding candidates for Sandy but will pogo with the same rabble

He certainly spoilt the game for me tonight.CURLY wrote: ↑Fri 17 Jun 2022 11:46pm
Howard has to defend the longest kicks in. He hands over when his opponent goes outside 50 and peels back. He’s our leading defensive spoiler for a reason.

Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
Just left ground and it was worse than what people at home think. Don’t blame the umpires as we got a few soft calls. Blame us
1. No game plan. Players standing still at free kicks. No leads no options except kick it and hope
hill. Don’t blame members. All we do is kick to king. Member went to defend as he was getting some ball up back.
I blame selectors. We don’t need butler and Higgins. Neither snap goals or crumb particular well. Play Sharman and kick it to him. He is a great set shot.
4. I blame rattan Can someone in all honesty tell me what our game plan was. I am not kidding
I am off home now to drink heavily and pat the dog which willl be the only enjoyment I’ve had for a while

Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
Have you ever seen someone spoil the ball back towards the goal square more than him? Don’t bother the answer is no. Good defenders kill the ball when they spoil. Defenders with no brains spoil it back into play.CURLY wrote: ↑Fri 17 Jun 2022 11:46pm

Quite true but let's start with the Captain. Plenty of woefully poor, inept, panicked, ridiculously out of form players...SaintDippa wrote: ↑Fri 17 Jun 2022 11:44pm Posters bagging Howard. Seriously? I'd have dozen others in the sights before Dooog.

A lot of posters appear to be putting the failure down to Ratts but in his defence he has not been dealt a very good hand with very few natural footballers out there.

Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
Does that mean our much lauded recruiters are actually inept.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
The backline was exposed by a midfield that got beaten and wasn't prepared to run both ways. Most of Essendons forward entries we by players with space and time to run freely with the ball while our mids watched from the centre of the ground. Hunter Clark was cooked by quarter time. Zak Jones refused to take the first handball option, as did Greaham

Byrnes Long Higgins Butler cannot all play together.
Madness to leave Windhager out with Steele not playing.

Apart from the first 8 min of the third, Essendon controlled the game from the outset.
We could not get our hands on the ball.
Let that sink in!

Re: Mach thread: saints v bombers
Can we seriously just let Lethean be handed the Presidency?
We need someone to drag this club into a successful period like Frank Costa or Jeff Kennett did.
I seriously doubt I'll live long enough to see this team win another premiership.
We are still that social club of the 80's.

Season is on the brink and we are standing on the cliffs edge with the sea raging below
We can still make finals .... but some serious soul searching has to happen for us to prevail
Swans
Blues
Dockers
Dogs
Eagles
Hawks
Cats
Lions
Swans
Probably have to win 2 of the next 4 ..... then wins against Eagles & Hawks and then 2 of the last 3 to ensure we play finals
5 wins could well not be enough

Would that be the Old Xavs Presidency with Hanners as Captain Coach?Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Sat 18 Jun 2022 12:05am Can we seriously just let Lethean be handed the Presidency?

Even if we pull a win or 3 out of our bum we are making up numbers
We don’t have the cattle or game plan to do anything if finals - we are still playing the small forwards game plan from 2020 (that every other side has worked out) except no one has told Brett.
We are carrying some really suspect decision making footballers - week in week out the same culprits
Jones
Gresham
Howard
Hill
Butler
Either running themselves into trouble or just blazing away to turn it over
And Ratten is already guaranteed a 2-3 year extension
We are in all sorts
Fancy signing a coach now with his toughest, season defining run still to come?
Only an amateur run footy club would do that - who cares what the media say ?????
Not us we are just trying so hard to be respected we’ll dovv be whatever it takes even if that means in the end we’ll still be laughed at

ratts said he and his coaching group didn't see it coming, he should have read a couple of the threads on here that predicted we would lose.
