To your son. Did he accept the offer? Did he play other footy? Don't leave us hanging ... I can't sleep.minneapolis wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022 12:53pmAnd.........what happened Coop?D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022 12:12pmIn regard to Kyle, he's a long term rookie selection based on athletic ability.
Plenty of athletes get a chance with little or no understanding of the sport and some make it, some don't.
My son was offered an opportunity as a category B rookie at the Suns as a 17 year old and he hadn't played AFL at any level since he was 12.
Pretty common in my opinion.

If he has found it too hard as Tony suggests, maybe the club is trying to help him work though it and get him back in the fold. I doubt putting out a statement that a young indigenous cat b rookie is not at the club anymore is going to assist that process, in fact may do the opposite and put focus on him that neither he or the club want.

"Found" could also mean that they may still be hopeful that they can turn him around. If so what is there to really communicate. If the young man is feeling pressured, uncomfortable, not quite right then there is no point making public statements about it. It would probably only make it worse.
He is a only rookie, so did not effect say the mid-season draft.
He is probably lost to us, but again he was a rookie pick. Most rookies do not make it.

Mistake IMO, but it was not my decision.

Re: Where is Josiah Kyle playing
He's playing for Doveton in the SFNL Div 2 this week. SFNL rules state that no AFL listed player can participate in their competition (for obvious reasons). Does this show us that he's left the club or merely got an exemption to play?

The Saints announced it on Saints.com.au about an hour ago. Kyle addressed the players this week, advising them he wouldn’t be playing at AFL level

Oh well, as long as he's happy.
Hope the Saints find another Cat B Rookie for 2023 at Rookie draft time.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
Re: Where is Josiah Kyle playing
No surprise.
Was miles off it so best for everybody.
Was put on the list purely because of his background but that is the world we live in now so good luck to him.
Like Peris he would not have been a top 100 pick last year but that is the system.
We took a punt but was a 100/1 shot of working.

Re: Where is Josiah Kyle playing
That’s disappointing. I watched him in a couple of the pre-season scratch matches and thought he had lots of X factor but very raw. Good luck to the kid. He’s still young so maybe he might get another chance in the future.
