Re: v Bris game thread
We’ve got a lot of midfielders that have generally looked good when we’re on top…
But amongst
Crouch
Ross
Gresh
Wood
Windy
Long
You really see the lack of class sometimes when they’re under pressure.
One tends to learn a lot about players in games like tonight when you need people to step up..
Who steps up
Who goes missing
Who is consistent

Re: v Bris game thread
Call it what you like blame umpires blame players bottom line is they were better when it mattered . We tried but far too many passengers to be a real threat . Oh well back to the drawing board 2 concussions & a hamstring so at least 3 changes next week so that gives someone an opportunity to show us what they have to offer. Not all doom & gloom we gave them a run for their money but not good enough on the night IMO anyway

Yes, the drive of 2 kicks and two handballs, none to a teammate, was sorely missed from the lowest ranked player on the ground at the time.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:06pm When Owens went down we lost any drive from the centre.
Bodes well for his future, but disappointed we can't cover a three game player.
Hope Billings and Clark are in good Nick, Sharman more value as a genuine forward option, Membrey high half forward.
Mitch Owens is a complete dud. We can stuff around for a few years hoping that someone who doesn't have the physique to play AFL will suddenly come good or we can believe our eyes. He makes The Dud look good.

Re: v Bris game thread
Correct about the difference between Hill and Long. Hill goes missing when things get tough. His squib of a marking effort when under no pressure sums him up. Long always has a dip. He’s all heart. Hill hears footsteps. He should be dropped, but won’t be.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 10:48pmHill has been pathetic tonight.skeptic wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 10:43pmHas Battlr been bad?shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 10:42pm What ever happens Saints, remember.
1) Always blame Brad Hill
2) Never question Battle and Long
At least Long has had a crack.

Let's hope it's not the Saints that play the Bummers back into form, it's a bigger possibility than i thought a few weeks ago.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

You can throw Jones in there skeptic, he goes missing, it's just that he looks angry doing it.skeptic wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:11pmWe’ve got a lot of midfielders that have generally looked good when we’re on top…

Re: v Bris game thread
What are you talking about
Owens was doing FA before getting injured
Windhager did FA for the whole game
Alright to get a few kicks against a woeful North Melbourne
I think both boys have a future, but to select them both in front of Clark and Billings was arrogant and Silly

Fair call, I didn't realise he had that little of it, he seemed involved in plenty of those contests just before he got injured.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:16pmYes, the drive of 2 kicks and two handballs, none to a teammate, was sorely missed from the lowest ranked player on the ground at the time.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:06pm When Owens went down we lost any drive from the centre.

He looked ok up to 3/4 I thought... not devastating but he was lively.

Crouch and Ross were OK
They played their part
6-8 players had less than a dozen touches

Half right. Seb Ross played his worst game ever. His direct opponent was BOG (wears the same number).

Sinclair had the most disposals(30) and second highest fantasy points( 105) for the Saints.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:17pm Unusually bad game from Sinclair and alot of the boys looked off tonight.

Metres gained by Sinclair 639. Next best was Battle 450.
Possibly a little off his best but still in our top few players tonight.
Probably at least 20 of the other 22 players you could put behind him tonight.

Plus... I don’t care about dinky little passes.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:30pmHalf right. Seb Ross played his worst game ever. His direct opponent was BOG (wears the same number).
He missed Butler in the pocket in the 3rd and he didn’t do anything to win us the match when it was on the line.
When the pressure is on, the match there to be won and adversity with injuries...that’s when you look to your leaders to give you something extra.
Membrey stepped up in the last
Sinclair and Crouch did their bit
Ross was a big step down compared to what he has been.
Games like this you don’t blame the kids, forward pockets and players that aren’t match winners... you look to your champions. Ross’ numbers were good... his effect was not nearly what it should have been

Re: v Bris game thread
Too often he was kicking to where our player should have been leading, only to find three against one. To win a game of AFL you must lead, lead, lead. If one of your 10 leads is honored, count yourself lucky but don't stop.StPeter wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:32pmSinclair had the most disposals(30) and second highest fantasy points( 105) for the Saints.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:17pm Unusually bad game from Sinclair and alot of the boys looked off tonight.

Re: v Bris game thread
At least selectors won't have the selection problem to find places for players this week.

Not seeing Hill did hurt and they probably had the hard tag on him... Zak Jones gets the ball and just makes the dumbest decisions with it.
Lets move on and look to next week and stop pulling apart the Team that is doing better then everyone expected.
