Shout out to North Melbourne …and warning…
…to St Kilda…
No doubt the low crowd figures…(of course, their fixture is crap) , will be used as an excuse to pile on pressure to North Melbourne.
..move to Tassie. , move to Tassie…move to Tassie or fold…fold…fold..
Like a government that wants to close a railway , they use low patronage to justify closing the line. They make the timetable so attractive that low patronage is assured.
Nevermind GWS and Gold Coast and Sydney can have crap crowds, crowds inflated by freebies etc., North …and Bulldogs and St Kilda …watch out.
Line up..
And don’t count on other clubs to help.
Other clubs are just businesses and competitors. The don’t wanna help North.
So Saints..keep an eye on the ball.

Re: Shout out to North Melbourne …and warning…
North's only problems are on the field. The club is debt free, has great facilities with more on the way and is firmly entrenched at Arden St.
Shane, I read somewhere you have lived overseas since the 1990s. If that's the case your thinking behind this thread is stuck in the 90s and if I could find an "Up Yours Oakley" bumper sticker I'd send it to you as a memento of the era. As demonstrated by the establishment of the Suns and the Giants the AFL won't be relocating established clubs. That door was welded shut when North rejected the opportunity years ago, which worked out well for the Roos.

Bit of a dilemma then because Naarm went top and can't draw a crowd.

If I was the AFL I would put up a relocation package that would be too good to refuse. Not Just for North but for any Victorian team.
Relocation Package for first Victorian team to relocate to Tasmania would include.....

Able to have 10 extra players on their list for the next 10 years

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

and also
i'm not thinking Tassie will accept anything but
boys playing in our own colours under our own name
to use Trevs line ... that door is welded shut.
send North North if they have to go somewhere
coz they won't be accepted in Tasmania
nor the Sainters
... we have long memories and chips on both shoulders.

- Tassie has made it clear they want a stand alone team
- The general AFL public and the media clearly support Tassie's wish
- Whatever the AFL decides it won't be an enforced Roos move

Move to Tassie could only work if they change the colours, the jumper, the name and the mascot. Maybe.

James Brayshaw’s efforts - and I am sure many others we don’t know about - should be lauded. He got them back and strong at Arden st..and the name North Melbourne came back into the lexicon.
In the last decade we have seen a concerted effort to start calling clubs their nickname and Luis if their geographical name less.. it’s so awkward the young media types have to say, ‘the Carlton football club’ at etc beginning of sentences because they are are getting used to saying ‘the Geelong Cats’ like Sydney Swans…
Who owns clubs.? Who are their stewards? Who cares about ‘St Killda footBall club?’. It is not as simple as it looks.
I don’t know about doors being slammed shut. I suspect they may be shut, rusted shut, but the whole damn building can be put on a truck and moved if necessary.

Look at North and St Kilda?
You need 45 million for a Tassie team?

There is now way that the other 17 clubs will allow that to happen. And Tassie will not support a relocated team, so there goes the viability.
If it was a new club there'd be concessions given to them similar to the ones afforded GWS and Gold Coast.
Including increased list size and salary cap, but that would be reduced every year.
They'd be given draft concessions leading to a compromised draft for a few seasons.
They'd be given access to Tasmania as an academy state with restrictions on other clubs drafting players.

But fair enough.
Of course the clubs won’t let it.
We should bare in mind the term ‘the clubs’ don’t always help. Looks like they c**k block a lot of stuff that would help justice and the ecology of football. It is so good that Tassie won’t accept a transplant and that North is sticking to its guns.
It was Dec 2007, when they finally stopped the AFL from moving them to Gold Coast. Not so long ago.

The AFL should do everything they can to orchestrate a relocation. Further expansion should wait for another 10 years and then I would bring in a third team in WA and SA.
St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Re: Shout out to North Melbourne …and warning…
North should have negotiated harder and moved to Gold Coast now however many years later they have achieved nothing and back in the same wobbly boat.
IMHO the 2 expansion teams spread the talent too thin and rooted struggling teams getting decent draft picks same will happen again.

That boat is being rocked. It is no accident.
I remember their coach in 1999, accepting the cup and not holding back, 'The AFL didn't want this to happen' (so f##k 'm , basically.)
He was right.
I thoroughly disagree that they should have moved, but many agree with you, no doubt. It wouldn't be North if they moved. Footy clubs are a spirit...and they have a place, a space..just like our native people know that spirits dwell in a place. The fans may be elsewhere, but the place is sacred.

Who is going to provide the bulk of the 750 Million Dollars, which is the proposed cost for the stadium Gil is saying the Tasmanian bid needs, as a minimum, to succeed.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Never going to happen. They will never get their act together. The north hate the south and the south just ignore the north and turn their 'superior noses up at the northern peasants.

Re: Shout out to North Melbourne …and warning…
Whole proposition seems obscene from a public policy perspective and complete folly in regards to an already skewed and problem wracked competition. Gill is going to leave a debilitating legacy and hopefully his lame duck status means he will have no direct decision making power. Time to put white elephant out to graze.

Re: Shout out to North Melbourne …and warning…
Right to information documents obtained by the Labor Opposition reveal the first time the cost of a southern stadium project was discussed by Tasmania's State Growth Department was February 22 this year — the day after former Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson appeared in the Hobart Mercury newspaper calling for a brand new stadium to be built in the capital.
Mr Gutwein announced the stadium project in his State of the State address the following week, on March 1, saying it would cost "in the order of $750 million".

The AFL now makes more money from gambling than any other revenue source, it's mind blowing.
Gambling apps took over pokies a long time ago and the clubs that were giving back pokies in one hand to virtue signal the cleansing of their morals, were holding out big bags with the other to collect even more cash from gambling apps.
All clubs are now fuelled with a large dose of gambling money.
