Re: Team v Brisbane
Well the injury list says Clark is available.
He’s had two-and-a-half VFL games and a bout of Covid since being pronounced officially right to go.
Do we pull the trigger and play him against Brisbane or continue to wrap him in cotton wool?
Important player to us and our future, but he is of no use sitting in the shed. If he has to play VFL - where there is also a chance of injuries - let’s hope it is only one more match.
If he is really a “marked man” it is because oppositions recognise him as a key playmaker. If there is anything untoward in the treatment he gets, I hope we have a minder assigned to level the score. I think that is fair play.

IS there an indication any of these players, or for that matter anyone at Sandy unhappy and looking to go? Not to my limited knowledge - therefore no more than keyboard speculation during a boring bye weekD.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 02 Jun 2022 8:16pmWe need to retain Byrbes, he will be a decent AFL player.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Thu 02 Jun 2022 9:59amByrnes, Bytel and Highmore are out of contract, Connolly has year to go, they would be mad not to look elsewhere, but after last night, its clear we arent concerned about getting a cheap development player, we have 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks for that and a strong connection to a free agent that if we get him, players like Byrnes and Bytel will have to work even harder. Id say the list is fairly settled and losses outside of the first 22, won't be too hard to replace.groupie1 wrote: ↑Thu 02 Jun 2022 3:26am Is anyone else concerned about Byrnes, Highmore, Bytel, Connolly looking elsewhere for opportunities if they don't start getting selected ahead of Windhager, NWM and Owens?
Given Webster's age and Billings' potential trade value, Ross' age (despite his insane form this year) and Woods' not best 22 potential, are we not better off getting Connolly and co in ahead of those 4, and certainly ahead of the new lads?
Byrnes has barely played footy all year and didn't go much wrong when he did in the two's.
And why was Lienart dropped? Did nothing wrong.
I think we see how quality disposal is so damaging, so the group of: Connolly, Byrnes, Sincs, Hill, and NWM should be prioritised.
And I don't think we wanna lose Sharman and Highmore to another team.
Not fussed if Bytel, Connelly or Highmore chose to move on.

We will be a 2 goal better side if we swap the % of CBA’s for Ryder and Marshall. Play Ryder more up forward or down the line.

If Clark gets picked, who gets dropped?

I think, the MVL* goes, bangaulegend wrote: ↑Fri 03 Jun 2022 8:57pm IMO if Higgins is available he comes in who goes out I don't know.
Wood
Jones
Long
Webster
Sharman
Paton
In that order..
* most vulnerable list
Tho Ratts has strange other worldly logic..
Kent might be picked…

Are you ranking them as Wood being first to go?shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Fri 03 Jun 2022 9:11pmI think, the MVL* goes, bangaulegend wrote: ↑Fri 03 Jun 2022 8:57pm IMO if Higgins is available he comes in who goes out I don't know.

I'd have
Webster
Wood
Sharman
Jones
Paton
Depending on who comes in of course.
I wouldn't replace Webster with Snags, of course.
Higgins comes in- Wood drops out.
Similar types i.e. high half fwds who provide pressure

Re: Team v Brisbane
Higgins & Clark fit will make the selectors earn their money. Messing with the winning tight combo we have now is highly problematic. Perhaps ask AFL to allow 24.

It's a fair question. If forced to choose between Clark and Jones, I'd probable lean toward Clark.SaintPav wrote: ↑Sat 04 Jun 2022 2:12amDude, seriously.
Jones major asset is his line-breaking pace, but disposal is average. Clark is a more skilled playmaker.

I think there’s room for both in our best 22. You’d be reluctant to make too many changes on the back of winning form, but selectors will find a way to get Clark and Higgins in when they are good to go. And Billings will be back, too, at some stage.
