We can be fairly confident he will. He turned 19 two weeks ago. His last two seasons were COVID-interrupted junior seasons . It takes time to pick up the rhythm of Senior footy. The main thing is that he reads the play well and gets to contests, and is strong enough to hold his ground. Exactly the same for Mitch Owens, who does not turn 19 till Grand Final day. NWM is a bit ahead of them, having played a full season with men in SA last year, but all three look great prospects .The Fireman wrote: ↑Sun 29 May 2022 5:47pm Would like to see windhager sharpen up his awareness and reaction time

Crouch 24 disposals, 9 tackles and yet his metres gained were NEGATIVE 13m.
The team was badly beaten in clearances.
Two weeks the loss of Steele has really hurt at clearances, fortunately the saints got away with it twice.
Crouch needs help.
He can't win the inside on his own.

Someone praised Long's game, a guy called Ratten.

Maybe Butler could have a run in the midfield? Got a good defensive game, which the midfield lack, plus got a bit of speed which we also lack around the packs- Jones didn't really do enough in that area early in the game, but we won, though we need to look at he midfield as it's a bit workmanlike at the moment and we wont go far in finals as it is.

The like-for-like replacement for Steele appears to have been Owens, who looks a great prospect but is young and raw.ace wrote: ↑Sun 29 May 2022 11:58pm Crouch 24 disposals, 9 tackles and yet his metres gained were NEGATIVE 13m.

So If clearances become a big issue during Steele’s absence, what are the options?
Owens and Windhager to improve rapidly? Perhaps.
Bytel? Don’t know what is going on there. Maybe injured or ill and seems out of favour.
Hunter Clark? Well you wouldn’t consider him a like-for-like for Steele, but he has strengths in other areas that may be enough to compensate. Good player and I’ve been looking forward to him getting more midfield minutes.
Left field options if we need a wrecking ball in there:
Long? Not a prolific ball-winner, but would certainly make his presence felt.
McKenzie? Maybe worth a shot?

Clark, Gresh, Sebby, Jones, Windy and Michito are good support for Crouch while Bytel is out and while we wait for the captain to return. I’d keep Long and Higgins and Billings and Butler as high half forwards.
I think Sincs is used more off half back as the receiver rather than the extractor so we can use his run and he is usually efficient by foot like Hill
DMac could go in for centre bounces and maybe even Mason Wood but it’s an unfamiliar role for these two. We also lose their run and spread and their marking power if we send them in there.

If they are playing the WCEs then that's probably as good a recharge for your batteries as a session in a day spa at a 5 star tropical resort.
Please tell me they are playing the tougher option over there.
