He misses a few in general play too, seems to be kicking for metres gained and efficiency %, rather than to the advantage of players in the clear or leading into open space. Seems to be just going through the motions.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sat 28 May 2022 10:15am He will be back he just needs to get the miles in his legs so he can maintain consistency. As Mordy has touched on is his kicking on goals still needs improvement. For a HFF & highly skilled player he misses far too many crucials shots on goal.

In considering that we just gave Billings a contract extension, his first 2 performances this year and the roles he has been tried in, I thought this link should be considered before we just allow Billings to run around delivering bruise free turnovers and outside accumulation that just result in false efficiency, and metres gained stats.

Re: Billings
Im just glad he has finally been given a message that being one of the more mature players, that those inconsistent efforts will no longer be tolerated. Plus the fact that we now have sufficient depth to drop a player of his profile, says a lot about our list rebuild and the expectations within the club. There are only positives coming from this decision.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sat 28 May 2022 10:20amHe misses a few in general play too, seems to be kicking for metres gained and efficiency %, rather than to the advantage of players in the clear or leading into open space. Re: Billings
It’s a good game to drop Billings for.
It also sends a message to Clark who looked to be on cruise control in the VFL. Owens had that freakish goal similar to what Butler used to kick. So, clear reward for effort there.

Re: Billings
I thought his kick to Sharman off his opposite was pretty impressive and like you wish for above. Our entries inside 50 and to the advantage of our forwards have been poor in general, not simply the domain of one player.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sat 28 May 2022 10:20amHe misses a few in general play too, seems to be kicking for metres gained and efficiency %, rather than to the advantage of players in the clear or leading into open space. I like the message the coaching panel have sent this week & I suspect it was more to do with involvement & two way gut running, the stuff to be done when he doesn't have the ball...which was / is a fair amount of or too much of the time against Adelaide.
