Bench:
JWeb
Mitch Owens
NWM
Sharman
Byrnes
Billings
Lienert
Butler

Long, Wood, Windy all named in the 18.

I'm surprised that Long isn't on the bench, after last week.

I reckon final bench will be
JWeb
NWM
Byrnes
Billings

Sharman unlucky
Lienert unlucky
Butler? Needs more time with Zebs

I’ll make a call here

I think Billings will get omitted

Don’t think it should happen, but reckon it might

You could be right.
He got 12 touches.
I thought he was on the bench for the entire 1st half, never noticed him.
If he's medi-sub or out, Owens should be on bench.
Owens got high praise from Batch 'Owens too good for VFL'

A twitter guy (also Big Footy) reckons Crouch hung out with Tex Walker post-game, and Walker is out due to protocols...
Which might mean the sources were mistaken/making up rumours

I reckon Owens might play instead of NMW. Butler and Lienert to miss. Byrnes will be the sub.

Alternatively, NMW plays and Owens is the sub.

Was Jack Higgins considered or was he Concussion protocolled.

The lack of a specialist small forward stood put for me last week.
Butler may be brought back into the 22 for that reason.

Reckon he might be looking for a trade come years end

I too am surprised to see Long's named on the field but it is a second indigenous round in two weeks.

Tom Highmore must be wondering what he has to do to even get his name mentioned as an emergency.

I think I’d go

Billings
Cooper
Lienert
Byrnes

NWM/Owens as the sub. I prefer the former

So I guess that’s Webster out, Butler and Owens miss

The report about today's training (in another thread) said "Bytel very sore and swam in the pool".

So there probably isn't anything sinister in his omission.

Owens
Sharman
Byrnes
Billings

Lienert as medi-sub

Butler to prove his Achilles is AFL ready.

Billings on a hiding to nothing against this mob. What's his break even? If he ever had one in 2022?

Bytel & Highmore are definitely keepers for 2023 but if they can't get a game I can see why they will test the water at the end of the season.

It's unusual how we have so many guys who could play,
Highmore
Byrnes
Bytel
Lienert
Owen
Which will be very interesting at the end of the season.
Who do we delist and redraft?
Who do we delist and say 'thanks, hope your next chapter is great'?
Who will we be chasing from free agents and in the draft?

I think Joyce goes, unless he's contracted.

Billings being dropped would be a statement... I think you’d either have to treat it as one ahead of time or weasel out if the issue by ‘resting’ him.
I tend to agree that it’s unlikely he’ll be dropped.

Ratten generally isn’t too quick to crack the whip and the reality is that Billings has just come back into the side and has one good performance and a mediocre. It’s a generally accepted concept in football that when returning from a long lay off, players tend to struggle more the second week then the first due to the recovery.

I don’t see from those ins where the midfield grunt comes from to support Crouch and co who were soundly beaten by Crows mids last week
Byrnes- Nup
Lienert ??
Owens slightly but he’s a kid….

Odd selection

Butler hardly smashed the door down….

Highmore needed a shot

Maybe he has hopes for Windhager and Owens as grunt midfielders while Steele is out. Don’t know what is up with Bytel. Perhaps can’t spread enough?

Bytel worries me
I suspect he’ll look for a new club seasons end
It should be his time
I’m not convinced Owens or Windy as first years are hardened enough Steele replacements
Owens can go forward which is a plus
We out too much on Crouch last
Kangas have some decent extractors….
