Re: Changes v North
I don't necessarily think these should be the changes, but it could well be Webster, Windhager and NWM out and Clark, Owen and Higgins in, with Butler a chance instead of Higgins depending on which of the two is fitter.
Ratts seems dead keen to give Owen another crack at AFL, so I doubt we'll see either Byrnes or Bytel next week unless there are injuries of which we are unaware.

Re: Changes v North
If you haven't watched the match, you didn't miss much from Billings. Up until 3qtr time he had 3 kicks. 2 of them turnovers. 3 kicks in the last, one a clanger and he is forgiven.
He is clearly on a free pass. He should be at Sandy working that out but I guess we expected everyone to be better against Adelaide and he'll probably get another free pass against North, while Byrnes is racking up disposals and goals at Sandy.
The medical sub rules should include brain fades.

Gotta love this thread, especially the well researched and considered expert opinions that are posted within an hour of the final siren. It must be a real skill to stop adrenaline pumping through the body, replay and review the game and consider any injuries in such a short time.
Especially when we win.

I hope they don’t drop Windy, I think there’s real potential there.

Re: Changes v North
Jack Billings was noticed only by his absence and I can see no reason why the selectors should give him another chance in a team that has won 7 from 10 games this year. It is not as if he ever plays a key role in the structure of the team, simply a link player.....CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sun 22 May 2022 1:01pm

Unfortunately JB is not the impact player he was expected to become as #3 draft pick in 2013, and I personally doubt that at almost 27 years of age he will ever achieve that goal henceforth.
With a strong list that includes a handful of young quality mids - NWM, Windhager, Owens, Byrnes - it makes far more sense to get games into them than waste it on a bloke who is at best a moderate performer.

Re: Changes v North
Billings was great last week and poor this week, but so were many others, so I’d give him another chance after coming back from his injury.

Re: Changes v North
Billings turned over half his kicks last week and missed two easy goals. Lol.
Sorry, last minute edit for accuracy.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Good to see you are making the effort to count JBs possessions, including turnovers. I'll look forward to your weekly report, only another 12 JB reports to go, plus finals hopefully.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sun 22 May 2022 1:01pmIf you haven't watched the match, you didn't miss much from Billings. It’s almost as bizarre as …logging into a footy fan forum and seeing people post opinions!!!!! Who’d have think it…..

Re: Changes v North
I'm just not taking the fanboi accounts as factual and I'm watching the game instead of gushing over Billings running into a Paddy tap over the back into an open goal. He was good last week for about 10 seconds. The rest was very rusty. This week he looked completely corroded. One more week and a bye will do the trick. He will be right.takeaway wrote: ↑Sun 22 May 2022 1:58pmGood to see you are making the effort to count JBs possessions, including turnovers. Re: Changes v North
I'm not sure about the outs just at the moment as I haven't watched the replay however based on it now being close to the mid point of the season I think some of our young and inexperienced players may be feeling the pinch and so as much as anything I'd be inclined to try and increase the number of players with some mature bodies and/or proven AFL experience for the next month so hopefully Clarke and Buttler are available for selection. I hope Bytel can make a case today because at some point, (maybe after the bye) we are going to miss that extra inside classy mid in Steele.
When you have a look at the number of players in our side with under 10 or 20 games we really have exceeded expectation this year and only bodes well for their development but what it does is highlight how much improvement there has been in a decent number of our established players with many in career best form and they really have carried us far this season. staggering really when you look at how many no-names have played this season.

22 touches (16 kicks) at 63% DE (4 clangers) and a goal, 4th highest ranked player on ground for us.
I don’t think he did too bad first game back.

Good old Scollop, missing the point again. CQ knew what I meant, and responded accordingly.

What excuses? Relates to previous posts on the issue. Wading in again when you have no idea. Get the context man.

Re: Changes v North
I don’t think Billings will be dropped. Historically players tend to struggle the second week after a long lay of. Recovery is an issue.
You’d have hoped for better than the 12 touches he got though.

Re: Changes v North
We got cute with selections last week and went in one mid fielder light.
We need clearance and contested specialists. Clark is a certainty and Bytel the other for mine ( but suspect it will be Owens)
