Re: Max King
Where is Kings best spot -CHF or FF ?
I think Sharman’s best spot is deep, so I’d play King at CHF - but more traditional CHF roaming across the 50m arc with Membrey and Hill on the flanks playing higher.
Higgins and Long in the pockets.
Marshall can rest deep forward to mix it up from time to time.
Paddy gets his rest on the bench.

Re: Max King
Even though Max had a quiet day on the scoreboard against Geelong I loved his attack on the ball
He kept busy, he was aggressive, and he was providing opportunities for his team mates

Re: Max King
Max gets all the attention from the backs atm we can plan around that he will only get stronger and bigger , the guy is gonna be a superstar. He moves around the ground level like a rover You heard it here first
In the future Poor delivery won’t be a problem
Was pluggers delivery always on the money?

Re: Max King
Max was a pretty significant factor in our win his attack on the ball was first class & a couple of 1% were brilliant, hopefully a couple of people on this forum who questioned his & Billings intensity at the ball watch the replay!

Re: Max King
Max was good today. Especially his competitiveness in the air.
I’m a little disappointed at his second efforts though. Needs to apply pressure in his area when the ball is around. Some very courageous attacks on the ball won me over though

Re: Max King
I disagree
I think his ground level work today was fearless
Loved his little give to set up Billing’s from boundary line to Long goal
Also loved his nice little block on Stanley to gift Paddy his second… smart player
He’s super smart below his knees
And I’m still amazed at just how many times he is still getting hands to the ball - he will have a day in not too distant future where they all stick and he’ll take 10 - 12 marks
Frightening
And today - Cats couldn’t zone off and intercept cause King just caused a contest every time

Re: Max King
Has got to be more ballistic
Lopes around and doesn’t do enough high end speed running!
Needs to draw the ball on the move a LOT more

Re: Max King
Needs to puff his chest out and learn how to strutt Jonno Brown style. If he perfects that then the footy stuff will naturally follow

You're a tosser. He kicked 6 straight. How many tackles did Lockett have in his career. How about something positive from you?

Give me 6 each week and bringing the ball to the ground each week and I reckon he is worth every $ we spend!

Maxy does it though - look out when he learns the craft.

He's not the only AFL player who does it.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Max King
Tony reported that on the training session on 5th May that Max was using a new approach where he kicked the same no matter the range.
That ignores banana kicking from the boundary which is a different action than the straight shots on goals.

Re: Max King
Most pleasing was seeing Max get two marks leading up at the ball carrier tonight and converting form 40-50 out.
If Max can get some ball on the lead as well and add that dimension to his craft he will prove unstoppable as he continues to mature as a player.
He appears to convert effortlessly from that 40-50 range.

Re: Max King
That's interesting becaue his routine did look precisely the same for every set shot, AND even in close to goals and maybe that's why his routine stood out, especially those ones close to goal that normally force me to look away.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 22 May 2022 10:35am

But credit where it's due, his set shots have cost us games but last night it won us the game. Hopefully his new routine gives him the confidence he needs to go the next level.
