Ladder of wins
Simple concept for a form ladder. You get one point for every win that a team you have beaten has. This works backward and forward in time. It doesn’t matter if your opponent won a game before or after you beat them, you get a point.
So we beat Freo 5, Richmond 2, Hawthorn 3, Gol Coast 2, GWS 1
Does it have any value? Maybe.
Does it make us look better? Yes
St Kilda 13
Sydney 11
Fremantle 10
Geelong 10
Melbourne 10
Collingwood 9
Brisbane 8
carlton 8
Bulldogs 6
Hawthorn 6
Gold Coast 5
Adelaide 5
West Coast 3
Essendon 3
Richmond 3
GWS 2
North Melbourne 1
Port Adelaide 1
Accurate (I think) to the end of round 6.

Re: Ladder of wins
I like this and obviously think it will have more value as the year unfolds.
If you use it as a predictor of success you have the following tips this round.
Richmond
Undecided freo and Geelong
Adelaide
Melb
Saints
Carl
Pies
Dogs
Sydney.
Let's review after the round

Re: Ladder of wins
I like this - it is a simpler way of calculating strength against ladder position - basically the same as 1 point for beating ladder position #18 and 18 for beating team #1.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 30 Apr 2022 5:21pm Simple concept for a form ladder. Re: Ladder of wins
I just had a look at our last 10 games draw (round 13 on) we play 4 teams currently outside the 8 - Bulldogs, WCE, Hawthorn & Essendon. The remainder are all tough games and in that time we play Brisbane & Sydney twice.
Plus our Captain (best midfielder) will be missing a lot of it.
If we play finals we will have we'll and truly deserved it. You wonder how the AFL can get draws so lop sided, our draw is ridiculous compared to others?

Fremantle and Sydney here tough? Don't think so.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sun 15 May 2022 7:43pm I just had a look at our last 10 games draw (round 13 on) we play 4 teams currently outside the 8 - Bulldogs, WCE, Hawthorn & Essendon. We need to to make sure we win the ones we should win in the next two weeks and we will go into the bye 8-3.
We beat Brisbane last season up there and I don't see why we can't do that again. The Blues have an enormous injury list compared to us as well.
I still think we'll win our 12 matches and keep our percentage above 105, and qualify for the top eight. Top 4 was never in my thinking for this season, but if we finish 5th-8th and play our first final in Melbourne I would back us against any side finishing in the bottom half of the eight.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.
Re: Ladder of wins
As we get into the season, it is always interesting to review who has beaten who (and where).
There are clearly some sides which are struggling for a variety of reasons, so what other sides have had the advantage of playing those sides so far (noting the struggling sides may improve on the back of personnel).
How many sides in the (current) top 8 have St Kilda beaten?
And who have they beaten (currently) outside the top 8?
Then apply that to every Club.
Plus, the Draw makes a difference when you have a struggling cohort of Clubs.
It can make where you sit on the Premiership Ladder after Round 9 a false assumption of prospects going forward.

Yes. I've tried to put it in a spreadsheet but my skills are a bit rusty.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sun 15 May 2022 7:31pmWhere does this sit now?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 30 Apr 2022 5:21pm Simple concept for a form ladder. Things to note. Our six wins is better than Brisbane, Freo and Carlton's 7-8
Gold Coast's 4 wins are better than Sydney's six. Adelaide's 3 wins are almost as good as Sydney's 6.
Sydney have hardly moved forward in the last 3 weeks.
This whole concept will get a bit confusing when teams play each other for a second time.

Re: Ladder of wins
Ross, Crouch and Gresh will be fine.
Whoever comes in- Byrnes or whoever- will add to the midfield.
We'll miss Jack, but we won't miss him
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.
