We’re nowhere near as good as Melbourne, but we’re too 8 material and are steadily getting better.

Anyone whinging today must have had unrealistic expectations.

Yep let's accept that because we never at any stage beforehand expected Melbourne to bring their best game.
That's what WE wanted as a contest and we also thought OUR best game would be competitive today BUT let's NOT blame our poor players and keep accepting mediocrity.
Melbourne were once our easy beats so why can't this team still not be able to go to an elite level?
Too many GOPs on this list that are happy to bask in their own glory.
Unless there is a miraculous 2nd half turnaround, well done to Melbourne bringing their best game to the MCG after 7 straight wins already.
The epitome of 'Eye of the Tiger' on display so far for them today.
I don’t understand this sort of rant. The current admin and coach have been doing their best to get rid of the GOPs who they inherited from their hopeless and hapless predecessors: you know, the same guys who made the call some years back that sees Petracca tearing us up today.

Nothing about our current setup suggests to be an acceptance of mediocrity. Our lineup is improving year by year. But we’re not there yet: cleaning up the mess made in the past takes time.

We’re heading in the right direction. Today was always going to be hard. And we might pick up a bit after half time: we’re lucky to be as close as we are, so perhaps we can capitalise on that.

Not helping that they haven't missed many and that we letting their best players run free

They have their best side out there whereas we a have a few to come back and Jones underdone

Would love a crack at these guys in a final where the pressure totally sits with them as hot favourites

I’d like to have a crack at them without May. The guy’s a brick wall.

Yes they’re taking their chances but let’s get real ffs
The way we are chipping, scraping, mongrelling, bombing the ball into forward 50 is the difference
We work so hard…get a goal
They go forward and score relatively easy
Our forward line looks chaotic
They’re looking dangerous every time they go in
Our mids have been smashed imo
Steele one of the worst culprits
Guys like Ross - MIA when it matters
Jones - totally off pace (fumbly but understand why)
We lack class in their big time but at least we now know it

Looks like everyone’s given up!

We had a pretty good third quarter.

Pretty frustrating that we'd start the match playing slow tempo when all our good wins this year have come when we take the game on. Evidence is there in the third quarter.

Hopefully we can build on something for next week. We're so much better when we take the game on.

Melbourne have the best ruckman and the two best midfielders in the game. We don't

It's been better and though it is no where near the reason we are losing, but boy there have been some baffling umpire decisions.

I’d love it if King led fast and didn’t try to wrestle. Play him in the backline for a while. He’s developing a lazy attitude. Hand slapping backline after another easy Melbourne goal.

May throws an elbow at Higgins and nothing.

It’s an melb open spread out forward line showing our forward coach how ours should look and work like

Well I was optimistic before the game & we had to bring our best effort but not to be . Dee's way too good but we haven't done our selves any favours , very poor decision making & no composure . Time to lick our wounds & get a lot more focussed on the Cat's next week or our positive start to the season will be a wasted opportunity. We are further away than I thought but not all doom & gloom next week gives us a chance to redeem ourselves .

So at least once a week we do the easy release from back half goal to opponents??

Every week
Last week Howard
This week Hill
