Re: Predictions this Round
The combination of the loss and the fact it was a sold game to cairns has meant we are heroes to zeros in a week

Re: Predictions this Round
We will need to be up by 30 at three quarter time as we will be run over after the game in Cairns.

Re: Predictions this Round
I think the perceived after-effect from the Cairns game is largely overstated to almost bordering on fake news.
If we get overrun I hope our excuse is we played a significant better side in all aspects who are in the sweet spot of a dynasty. Their midfield alone should rip us apart even if we played our last 3 games under the roof and with a 10 day break leading into the game.
There just is a massive class divide between us and the Dees.

Re: Predictions this Round
IMO we are half a chance if we play to our potential. I know Melbourne are a good team but even good teams drop a game here & there so I'm going Saints by 4 points

Every game in a row the dees win is a game closer to their eventual loss.

Not according to those that have played in those games. Nathan Jones was on SEN yesterday saying it took them longer to get over than a normal game.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 03 May 2022 11:22amI think the perceived after-effect from the Cairns game is largely overstated to almost bordering on fake news.

Re: Predictions this Round
Longer than 8 days?, maybe that's why Nathan played in a Melbourne side that didn't win too many games.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 03 May 2022 12:03pmNot according to those that have played in those games. Re: Predictions this Round
I hope we win.
We may likely not.
If we don't win the game, I think it'll be 4 goals or less.
But we could "win" the season by sticking to a game plan, everyone contributing.
Score a 80% goals 20% behind ratio and I'd be thrilled even with a loss.

I'll settle for 60% / 40% SAINT-LEE. Something like 15.10 should be enough against the Dees.

Re: Predictions this Round
I think Melbourne will fill thier boots motivated by a desire to cast us aside as pretenders.
If the Melbourne midfield wins their battle as is expected and their backline rebounds from our forward line relentlessly to score from turnovers created by our midfield bombing it into our F50 then I'm thinking it's difficult to see us getting close.
I apologise in advance for my negative outlook.
I think I'll put 100 on us to win just to balance things out.

I also predict Dunstan plays the best game of his career to win BOG with 43 possessions and 3 goals.

BOG Stephen May
The team doesn't know how to deal with intercept defenders. Aliir did super well, so basing it on Stephen May bullying Max King.

Re: Predictions this Round
Max went OK against McGovern & the West Coast marking defenders. I am hoping the space at the G, quicker, better, smarter ball movement into our F50 & Lever being kept busy by Membrey might expose May. Max has to help himself though and move and lead, otherwise your prediction will come true.axcellence wrote: ↑Tue 03 May 2022 2:08pm BOG Stephen May

Re: Predictions this Round
One good thing is that the players should go into the game feeling that they have nothing to lose. If our backline plays well, then we have the capacity to restrict Melbourne's scoring opportunities. We've got a reasonable amount to throw at them: they will be worried about how to contain Higgins, Gresham and of course Hill. Jones and Billings, if they play, will provide a bit of additional thrust going forward.
Realistically, if we can keep the scoreline close over four quarters, it will be a big morale boost for us. I'm sure the boys will give their all. I didn't think there was anything wrong with our effort on Saturday night: the main problem for us was our usual one of being unable to turn scoring opportunities into goals rather than behinds. Even then, we would have won, or at least tied the game, but for a bit of panic in the closing minutes.

Re: Predictions this Round
I hoping like hell our blokes will recover in time, but I think the travel and the slog in the Cairns weather will take its toll.
Melbourne by 30 points.
