Re: Paddy mcCartin
Sorry for Paddy.
Can you imagine if he were in St Kilda colours and this went down?

Re: Paddy mcCartin
You’d hope that that wasn’t a concussion because it was about as innocuous an incident as there could be
He looked a touch groggy getting up
If that was a concussion, he should just give it up IMO. Too unsafe for him

How many times were we told it was ‘precautionary’ and then he missed the next month?

He told Longmire he failed his concussion test because he was nervous about having to do it and stuffed it up

He failed the concussion test so is gone for 12 days.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 25 Apr 2022 6:39pm LATEST UPDATE;
I heard on the radio driving home that Paddy does not have concussion.
I wonder what this means for our liability now it’s happened for second team. Might be a bit of an out for St Kilda in the future if this comes to bite the AFL on the bum and in turn the clubs involved

Not exactly inspiring is it
Either he’s lied or he choked on a test designed to trip up ppl head injuries

Eh! He’s well aware of the risks he’s taking. Hope this doesn’t make me look like a bad person, but I now have compassion burnout for the guy, after waiting 5 years for him to come good. He’s Sydney’s problem now.

Yep I think of them both similar given how concussion prone they are.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Mon 25 Apr 2022 3:48pm Gotta feel for Paddy and Will Pukovski..9 and 11 concussions respectively.
And both are so talented and determined to make it regardless.
They never get the continuity and you have to feel for them.

He says he was nervous, but the doctors are bound by the Hippocratic Oath (do no harm etc) to go on the results of those tests.
If someone blew 0.08 on a breathalyser but insisted they were feeling perfectly able to drive...

Protocols will be followed
Which is the correct procedure for any player subjected to a head knock and concussion symptoms
McCartin, given his documented history with concussions, attracts more media coverage than others
Afford him the same courtesies as are afforded to other players subbed out with concussion symptoms
We hope and trust he is back doing what he has so assiduously worked to do at soonest - and we wish him well
No doubt within the 4 walls he will be subjected to appropriate testing - giving him confidence to continue to chase his dreams
His return to AFL football has been a tribute to him and his self belief (no doubt supported by those charged with his care)

If he wants to stay in football it has to be as an umpire.
But he would need to be able to run and run.

He might be a fat and happy premiership player for the Swans and have regular reunions with his great mates Buddy & Co.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 26 Apr 2022 3:35am Shouldn't be playing....what will he be like when he's 50?

If he doesn't have concussion and I hope he doesn't, then the Swans should not have been allowed sub him out.

After your self righteous and misinformed comments about another (trial) medical intervention which we’re not allowed to mention on here, you appear to have an extremely poor understanding of risk.Killa wrote: ↑Mon 25 Apr 2022 11:22pm Protocols will be followed

Concussion protocols mean Jack s*** when you have already been concussed 14 times or whatever the number is. They don’t detect long term sub clinical impacts. We should all fear for Paddy’s health and future quality of life.

Cant believe Sydney picked him up.
He looks fitter than he did at the saints. Trimmed down a lot.
But I still wouldnt say elite athlete trim.
Also looks to have lost all his muscle on his arms.
Must be AFL or nothing for him to have come back
