It was always an incredible risk considering his history.
You can’t play football at this level without head knocks, especially a key position player in marking contests.

I feel very sorry for Paddy. I hope both Paddy and the Swans consider his long term health in any future playing decisions.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Paddy mcCartin
One of his team mates said in the post match that him not coming back on was just “precautionary” or words to that effect.
Bloody well hope so.
Didn’t seem to matter to the swans, they powered over the hawks at the end.

Re: Paddy mcCartin
Nothing to worry about I recon, you'd have to think any head knock is going to result in the docs taking no risks and subing him out of a game by default. I think the footage of him in the changes rooms was him being pissed off for being taken out of the game.

Sadly, it was always just a a matter of time. If he continues to play on, there'll be another one down the line somewhere. I just hope that this isn't going to cause serious problems for him in 20 years time

He would be safer standing in front of Russian tank than on a football ground.

Re: Paddy mcCartin
He looked frustrated and distraught at being subbed out of the match, but at no time did he look affected by the concussion IMO.
I don't know what that means, if it is positive and precautionary or damning that he shows the affects but doesn't realize it.
Hope the lad is ok as he was travelling quite nicely.

When Higgins was sitting after his knock, he was twirling a footy in his hand, looking like his fine motor skills were perfectly fine.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 25 Apr 2022 5:40pm He looked frustrated and distraught at being subbed out of the match, but at no time did he look affected by the concussion IMO.

Doctors do the tests, they know what they're doing.

Re: Paddy mcCartin
Despite my half cheeky half jackass remark earlier...It was too hide the fact I'm gutted.
I don't know if I'm in the lonely crowd? But I saw massive potential in Paddy.
He was sooo good to chat with. I remember his first training session and chatting to him later for 20 mins. The guy was do damn genuine, smart, focussed and keen. That's what stood out. He was so keen.
I'm guessing it's what has driven him to try to recover and keep playing.
I hope he stops. I really do. Great young man. So much to live for...we can't lose another the way it took Spud...CTE is an evil taskmaster.
Junior Seau was a fav player in the NFL. We had common friends and spent time with him in Maui.
His death was pretty hard to take, still brings a lump in my throat thinking about the letter he wrote, the torment he was in, his brain was so munted. He was incredibly intelligent.
I don't want anyone else to go that way.
I don't give a damn if we lose out best players....set a maximum concussion protocol and that's it. Over.

Maybe he thought he was good to go and he was just pissed off they wouldn't let him go back.
