Changes v Power
Out: Hayes (ACL) and Marshall (corked thigh) may need a rest
In: Ryder and Campbell?? (May be a bit slow but we need a second ruck),
Can Sharman come in and maybe Battle is second ruck again?

Ratts said in his presser that Marshall will be right next week . Jones and Ryder will come in .Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 12:28am Out: Hayes (ACL) and Marshall (corked thigh) may need a rest

Re: Changes v Power
I'd go Ryder and Sharman, unless Sharman is way out of favour because he hasn't done what's being asked by his coaches.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 12:28am Out: Hayes (ACL) and Marshall (corked thigh) may need a rest

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Changes v Power
Looking at the stats sheet… I reckon it’s worth at least one of NMH or Windy to have a rest. Both have been good and will be back but they’ve peaked for now.
Paddy will come for Hayes
Jones for NWM/Windy
I lean towards dropping Wood too. For all the hype, I don’t see the performances when they matter. If Coops has a big one I hope they seriously consider it

I wasn’t listening to Channel 7 commentary in the first half but I reckon the MRP will look at the Long tackle on Hill.

Ryder, Jones, Sharman and Highmore all to come in next week.
St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

It will be hot up there so not sure it’s a good game to bring a underdone Jones in!

Sorry Kosi was he concussed & didn't play any further part . I honestly don't remember. If so yes if no , no case to answer . Very similar to the Paddy incident no concussion that would not even have made the headlines but this is the age we live in any head injury will be a minim 1 week maybe 2kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 12:57am I wasn’t listening to Channel 7 commentary in the first half but I reckon the MRP will look at the Long tackle on Hill.

Hill initiated the contact bumping Long to the ground. Long grabbed onto him as he fell and it was unfortunate that Hill’s head hit the ground.

Bobby Hill impeded/blocked/shepherded Long from getting to the contest
Long threw Bobby Hill out of the way.
Hill's head impacted the ground after his body hit the ground
Umpire awarded a free but advantage was taken.
If Bobby Hill was concussed Long will miss at least one game, I fear two.

Butler got 6 touches- 4 kicks, 2 handballs.
Time for a rest mate.
NVM got low AF ranking points, i think he got 7-8 touches.
Him out too

Re: Changes v Power
IN Ryder OUT Hayes ACL injury
IN Jones OUT Long suspended
One of Lienert, Windhager or Wanganeen-Milera to be medical sub
Marshall got corked against Gold Coast but played after a 6 day break.
They suggested he got a cork on this cork.
He has an 8 day break.
If that is not sufficient I would love to see Max Heath played as second ruck forward to Paddy Ryder.
I want to see W-M go harder at the ball and try tackling.
He is softer than Brad Hill but at present nowhere near as good.
I hope he will be as good as Hill but also learns to go harder at the ball and become a fierce tackler.

Hayes - Ryder
Wangmil - Connolly
Windhager - Jones
Wood - Sharman
Lienert - Wood (sub)

Re: Changes v Power
Changes need to be kept to a minimum..why tinker with a winning formula?
Ryder the obvious in and they’re keen to get Jones back in, as he does improve our midfield depth rotations.
Outs Hayes and Lienert/ Wood.

Re: Changes v Power
Disagree on NWM. We hardly used him all game because there were so many stoppages and we could hardly get it to the outside. But whenever we did he continued his great form and doesn't look out of place at all. A new game against new opposition in PA will probably open things up a bit. It is his first season though so a rest isn't the worst thing to happen.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 2:20am Butler got 6 touches- 4 kicks, 2 handballs.

Why are we playing this in Woop Woop and not at Marvelous? Are we getting money to give up a home game?

Re: Changes v Power
Interesting structural and selection dilemmas.
Hayes going over will offer opportunity for someone, but not sure who.
I think we will just go Ryder/Marshall next week and Hayes might have missed anyway, but what happens when one of Marshall/Ryder inevitably misses?
Campbell? Can ruck, but can he hold down CHF like Hayes?
Sharman? Impressive last season, but seems off the pace so far this season. Possibly not big enough or versatile enough to ruck and play key position.
Heath? Just a kid, but I see he likes a goal. Could he do the Hayes role? Pinch hit in ruck and give structure to forward line? Possibly not physically developed enough at this stage, but the club at least had him as an emergency Friday night, so maybe.
Will be interesting to follow the Zebras match today.

Re: Changes v Power
Ryder for Hayes of course.
If Marshall isn’t 90% (I’m not sure he’s ever 100%), then Lienert for Marshall, with various players helping out in the ruck.
I remain to be convinced that Campbell is AFL standard: it would appear that the novice Heath is currently preferred to him, which surely answers my question. Is Heath ready? I guess if the club was happy to have him as an emergency, then maybe he is: but I assume this was purely as a backup #1 ruckman. Assuming Ryder is fit, then he won’t need to fly to Cairns.
Then there is the question of Jones. If he is ready to come in, then one of NWM or Wood look ready for a run at Sandy (I thought Windhager went well last night, so he stays in for mine).

Yeah I'd keep NWM in the team. He's class. Let him continue to develop at senior level.Trixilver wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 11:04amDisagree on NWM. If Long gets 3-4, as I expect, then NWM will surely stay in the team. Apart from Jones, nobody really seems to be knocking on the door.
