Ins I would play Campbell he is killing it for sandy and is a great mark and kick for goal.
He would come in for Hayes as much as I like Hayes he is not big enough in the AFL as second ruck more a forward
I would also bring in Jones he has been training and played well for sandy. Out would be windhager who I really like but he will get more opportunity's this year.
jimmy webster in for Paton, webster is a hard nosed defender and he is better with the ball then Paton and keeps his opponents always looking over shoulder.

Hayes and Marshall - 27 H/O against a guy who demolished Carlton last week (31H/O this week)
Not entirely sure that Hayes is too undersized - Chol only got 4 H/O our jack got 5 - and matched Chol's goal
In terms of AF points
- RoMa/Hayes - 178 (108/70)
- Witts/Chol - 99 (74/25)
More than happy with Mr. Hayes performance

I think Jones for Windhager is a no brainer. Nothing against the kid but Jones is an automatic in if ready. The only other change I would consider is Highmore to replace Mason Wood. As far as Webster is concerned, right at this moment there is no spot for him. Unless there is an injury I can't see him back in any time soon. Imagine when Ryder, Billings, Hannebery and Clark are also available. How difficult will selection be then? Then there is our very promising youth that need games. Byrnes, Windhager, Bytel, Owens, Connolly and Sharman. They have no hope of playing unless injuries hit.
I imagined Hannebery available but then I wondered what year it was.
I got out my coffin and found a newspaper.
It said Hannebery available and something about his great grand father having played for St kilda.
The paper was dated April 2122.

Genuine pessure for places in the side is something we haven't had for sometime. It's a great sign for the club that things are going well.
It's a shame we don't have another FB to come in or put pressure on Howard as IMO he is struggling for form this year. Joyce seems to play only when Howard is not available and Highmore is probably a bit under sized. We bought in Adams last year but he will be a few years before he is ready, it's definitely a hole the recruiters need to fill at some point.
Coach for a day loved Howard's game.
What impressed him was the number of spoils.
If the opposition forwards don't take marks it limits their scoring opportunities.
Howard's job is stop the big gorillas from marking and let the other backs clean up the mess.
Yes Howard makes mistakes that you wish a full back would not make but he is doing the job the coaches really want.

I like Leinert with the kick ins , more than any of the other defenders
But I dont think he offers anything more in general play than Webster.
If Webster is fit, he comes straight back in for Leinert who is unlucky to be dropped
Jones in for Windy. The kid has shown a bit and getting a couple of games now will I’m sure make him go back and work extra hard.
Actually wouldn’t mind seeing NWM take a few kick ins.

Was Covid the issue with Webster? I thought I saw him get absolutely smashed in a pack late against Hawthorn and figured that must have been why he missed.
Getting smashed is one way to get covid.
Going near Hawthorn is another.

Jones has a history of soft tissue injuries so unless he is cherry ripe IMO not worth the risk . Who comes in or out will depend on who matches up better against the opposition . I'm not sure if we need to make too many changes unless it's to give they young blokes a bit of rotation to keep them fresh .

Lienert is bigger than Webster, is a better kick as well.
Not just kicking accuracy, but choosing a good option- Lienert seems more composed than Webster, who can blaze away blindly.
Lienert always gives assistance in the air to Battle, Wilkie and Dougal- which Webster can't or won't do.
Lienert, for me, is worth more than Jimmy

Zak Jones every chance to make an AFL return on Friday against GWS. Keen to play, in a much better spot after time away. 28 touches and nine clearances in his VFL return. Decision to be made later this week but a great sign for the Saints he is close

Agree totally with this!
Jones is critical to our chance for finals as along with Gresham is the genuine midfield pace to take the game on and break the lines.
Jones only knows flat out so he wont hold anything back.
Last year he did a quad which was 6-8 weeks from memory so take the no risk approach especially on what could be a cold night in Canberra.
Give him another run at Sandy then back the week after if ready.
There's only one rule in the jungle! When the LYON's hungry, he eats!
They may give Jones one more week at Sandy to build up match fitness otherwise Windy makes way for him. Like for like. Butler stays in. He is crucial to the forward line.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
I'm surprised at those suggesting Long comes out, he's brought good energy and intensity and seems to be playing disciplined and skilful team footy. Maybe I need to watch the replay again.
Long plays. No way he goes. Anyone who thinks he will get dropped after playing 2 great games in a row has no bloody idea. Give yourselves an uppercut you morons! I get pissed off with the juvenile stupidity on this site.

Long has played well, not awesome - but well. Is he better as Webster as a backman - no . Who would you want one on one with Greene?
Paton is there other vulnerable one if Long stays in and goes back forward.
Windy isnt in this discussion as leaves us a mid short in rotations against a side which strength is mids.
Could run with an unchanged line up. I could mount a case for all players to stay in the team. It’s a very healthy position to be in.
That said I think if Jones is ready he comes straight back in and Windhager will be the unlucky one.
No spot for Webster. Our backline was dynamic and solid without him. The backs should stay unchanged.
